Hello everyone, I'm a new member here.
I'm 19 years old, 178lbs and either going to compete in classic BB or Physique, unless I become big enough to compete with with the big boys in Mens Bodybuilding.

Wanted to post some photos and see what y'all thought, I'm gonna push my weight until I reach about 16-18%bf and then take 20 weeks to prep. No set show date.

Natural at the moment, will run gear in a month or so, cycle:
400mg Cyp
300mg EQ

I understand I'm young and being young and using is frowned upon but, I am being safe with it, have a well known coach that is making sure I'm safe, and am asking for the opinion of the photos not my cycle.

All comments are appreciated :)

For being 19 and natural you look great! I'm also impressed that your leg development is on par with your upper body. Best of luck to you. I'm sure you're going to do great. Keep us posted with some update pics

Thanks for the kind words, I always felt like my legs are far too small. I will definitely keep the forum updated with progress pics.

well . . .

TJL830,

How long have you been training?

I think you look fine and have a naturally pleasing physique,
nothing stands out, very symmetrical. Your legs are good
which is a plus. And you are young and have a very good
base to start out with. Just take your time and don’t rush into
things. (You know what I am talking about.) You have a lot
of room and time for natural growth and to reach you genetic
potential. Just don’t get too fat in the process. If you live long
enough, you will regret it. 16-18% body fat is way too much
in my opinion. The level of leanness you have now I would
not exceed.

As you aspire to be one stage one day, how you progress,
what you look like along the way will determine if you have
what it takes. Be honest and mindful of your intentions and
the pitfalls along the way and enjoy the ride. Above all else,
stay healthy and you will have zero regrets while reaping
the results and benefits that weight training / bodybuilding
has to offer.

Please keep us informed with more fotos as you progress.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the kind words. I've been training about 3.5 years now. But only the last year has been truly consistent. The first few were for high school sports training for performance and not appearance. Now, I am doing all I can to grow.

You said 16-18% is too much in your opinion so, what would you say is a more reasonable fat content?

Also, I think I'm going to update this with pics every 1.5-2 weeks. Whenever I send pics to my coach is when I'll also post them here.

Like I said, a reasonable fat content is where you are now.
In my opinion, there is now need for you add any more fat to
your physique in order to promote muscular growth. It will place
an unnecessary burden on your body. You will progress just
fine keeping your body fat at its current level, no higher. In fact,
it will be easier to track your true progress looking as you do
now. And as far as getting ‘fatter’, you will just have to shed
it down the road if you decide to compete. The less body
fat you have going into your contest prep mode, the more your
body will thank you and the easier and faster your prep will be.
And you will be healthier too.

Do not become obsessed with the scale or a tape measure
(unless you are measuring your waist). The scale is like a Ouija
board, if will mess with your head unless you are trying to fit
into a certain weight class. In the end, ultimately, the mirror
is your friend. And if your coach wants you become ‘fatter,’
I would fire him or her . . . find another coach. Again, my opinion.

I wish you all the best.

Okay that all makes sense, and no my coach isn't asking me to get fatter. He is asking me to grow and I believe he knows what he's doing. He's fairly well known. But, I appreciate the input.

Here are a couple pics as an update to this thread. I have no idea if anyone is actually keeping up with it but, things are going well in my opinion. Still natural. Still eating a lot lol

So am I. You got a really solid base going....and an aesthetic look about you.

Listen to your coach ....I myself wouldn't want to gain anymore bodyfat. Plus I personally think you have more natural gains to make before taking the plunge. It will only make things that much better for you later. In that aspect of things....just remember that a little goes a long way!

Not saying your at a bad spot....but your at a point to where your going to have to be careful with your surplus. Just make sure you are putting everything you can into your workout, and get your body to crave those extra calories.

Adding quality weight is a slow process. I lost and gained over 30lbs this past year... And even with muscle memory..... anything more than a couple pounds per month would result in me starting to smooth out more than I liked.

Don't worry so much with the scale....trust the mirror. Take comparison pics to accurately assess where things are headed.

I honestly think if you take the time (which you have plenty of)....you will do really well.

Just some thoughts from an older guy who would have done things a little differently if I had the chance to start over.

Good luck to you!

I really appreciate the kind words. I have actually come a long way from when I first started training and so to hear some kind of acknowledgement is nice.
I will definitely avoid gaining too much fat. And I think my coach wants the same thing. Other than that everything is going smooth.

This was me just three and a half years ago and I've been working my ass off since then

I'm trying to push size. I don't care if I weigh a shit ton because weight doesn't always amount to muscle. If I'm visually growing, imma keep pushing.

lol.....that totally went over your head......but whatever...

none of you listen anyway...

Do you mean don't push bw?

I'm not a huge proponent for scale weight obsession that most guys have. But in order to track progress, wouldn't you say strength and "controlled" weight gain is a good indicator? In conjunction with the mirror.

A growth phase where you put on 7-8 lbs, and then keep 2-3 while maintaining a decent look in the mirror in my opinion would be very optimal.

Putting on 30 lbs in 6 weeks would fuck you up obviously, especially if much of that is driven through calories.
