Hollywood screenplay looking for your storys!

Just wanted to introduce myself.
This seems to be a great board with great people!

I am a film producer....(in prep for my next one called The Company Men starring: Martin landau, Steve Zahn, Steve Buscemi, Brian Cox, Ron Livingston, Tom Waits and Emmanuelle Chriqui).

I am also in story development for a future project portraying the rise and fall story of a professional BB.

If anyone wants to share there life story's, hardships, highlights etc...with me I am open to hear them all!!

You can check me out at

Cheers!

welcome to the board. here as opposed to other places you'll find the members to be much more level headed about bodybuilding in all its aspects than anywhere else. currently there is too much media centered around bashing some of the things bodybuilders do. hopefully whatever it is that you write is actually informed and doesnt play into the current hype treating hormones as meth.

I am a strong beliver that a lot of the media have their head up their ass.
If they would stop trying to brainwash the general population into thinking steroids are as bad if not worse that the ice being sold on the street, perhaps people could start to educate themselves properly.

its not even the steroids. its the steriotype associated with bodybuilders. noone outside of the bodybuilding community understands the amount of sacrafice and dedication it takes to be in this sport. there is no real off season. theres no skipping a workout because you dont fell like your getting paid enough to do it, theres no im not playing until my agent gets me a better contract. if you think about how many pro football or baseball players there arethat you can name off the top of your head compared to how many of the same bodybuilders there are its a much smaller number. i really believe that this is the hardest sport in the world to be at the top level of.

Just to be clear....the script will not focus on steroids use at all.

It will focus on life! I am more interested in real issues people face with family, work, training, the highs and lows of realizing a dream....etc.

do you yourself do any bodybuilding? id say if you want to know what its like dive in head first. find a show you want to do a year or 2 from now and train for it. no experience like first hand.

Welcome

First and foremost welcome to the board and congratulations on you're impressive body of work. It is nice to have you as part of us.
My suggestions for you're research would be as follows: (some of these might already exist and if they do I apoligize the originator of the thread)
Start threads with these topics
While going through the trials and tribulations of contest prep what are some of the craziest foolish things that you did to other people.
ex (yelling at the produce manager for not having fresh bananas)
What is the most crazy thing you have ever seen backstage
Same for onstage (saw a guy do a back flip once)

Just my 2 cents and once again welcome.

Just wanted to introduce myself.

I am in the gym a fair amount but would never consider myself gifted or dedicated to enough do a contest...

Hi Matthew,

Phil Hernon is an IFBB pro and member here. He has a beautiful baby daughter that is in training. Do you have any roles for her in your upcoming projects?

(Phil, please send me my cut in LBAs :D )

ICE is not a very common word out here in the states, Where you from if you don't mind me asking?

Welcome to the board.

Welcome bro. Good luck on your story there are a lot of great people here.

You should talk to bigkiwi...theres a story for you!

It's a good idea, so what you're looking for is almost like a modern Pumping iron. But probably more competitive, since bodybuilding evolved so much since then and there are a little bit more then 3 competitors in the Olympia Heavyweight division. Can't wait to see it.

Maybe showing different levels of competition, life outside of bodybuilding, family, jobs etc.

Welcome... we're glad you joined.

I'm also a concerned member. I know it's just a movie, but it seems like there is nothing but negative publicity regarding bodybuilding. Forgive those of us who are a little skittish about talking to you. As a women, I feel like I get even more stereotypical comments.

Since there are only a small % of us out there, I'm not so sure the general public will find a movie about bodybuilding very interesting unless it was full of the negative type drama that personified about bodybuilders.

I like a good drama as much as anyone, but it would be nice to have something positive come out of it.

Despite what people think about bodybuilders being selfish and conceded, I would say this is one of the most supportive communities out there. I have meet so many bodybuilders who are far from conceded or selfish. In contrary, the reason most people get into bodybuilding is because they don't like the way their body looks and they want to change it... hopefully improve it. I think it's a bodybuilder's dedication to training and dieting that makes them come across selfish. It's like what tkav1980 said about there being no off season for us that makes it seem selfish.

Think about a women who has children and works a full time job getting ready for a competition. She has to be up at 4:00 am in the morning to get her cardio in. There are kids meals to prepare as well as her's and 9 times out 10 the kids will not eat mom's food. This means different meals. Usually meals that are not on her diet plan. The temptation would be to great for the average person to eat the kids food. Then in between the kids' activities, work and house work, she has to get her weight training in. This doesn't include all the other prep-work that goes into getting ready for a competition.

We don't mind answering questions. It would just be nice to have a more positive view of bodybuilding. Especially when there is so many people out there who are either obese or the other extreme trying to fit into the skinny twiggy-Abercrombie & Fitch look.

Im curious about this bolded statement. Are you looking to portray someone who is obsessed (even by our own standards) or has illusions of greatness and breaks everything around them as a cost? If so, you can see one of the characters from Bigger Faster Stronger who did something like this and is not worth rehashing because it does nothing for the stereotypes and image of BBing and what goes into it (training, dieting, AAS, etc.).

Now if you want a cool story of a rising life, Id recommend talking to Lucian. Hes got a great story, and while hes faced trials and tribulations, he hasnt 'fallen' in the sense that BBing has consumed his entire world.

And Ill agree with Sassy. Youre not going to find frat boys here who are judgmental and elitist of others who dont lift or are at lower levels of lifting. This group is pretty humble, supportive, and doesnt really care what others do as long as it doesnt infringe on what we like to do.

You need to send a message to IFBB Pro Phil Hernon, a veteran of this board. Hands down, he IS your man.

There is not a person on this board or a bodybuilder out there who hasn't gone through trails and tribulations, so there will be tons of "fallen" stories out there.

I certainly won't be playing out a steroetype...I find that boring.

When I mean rise and fall...I am speaking about the arc. Good screenplays (IMO) have a large character arc and this one would be no different.

Thank you all for your support! I think the best stories are ones that have real experience, passion and heart behind them.
Everyone who has PM'd me I will for sure respond to.

Amazing group of people this board has....I see a true community here! Great job!
