If I knew I would be in a video I woulda went shirtless to show off my gyno surgery!!!

300lbs, i did 8 reps but shut it down because doing more wouldn't effect my placing and i got a stomach cramp. I competed in the 265 class, but weighed in around 235 in clothes ... i usually compete @ 231, but the 2nd best LW pro in the country, kirk nowack, was competing and he was doing 265's so I wanted to go against him. I took 2nd overall, to him, by a very narrow margin, and he got a "freebee" on the press (his words, not mine!) that gave him an extra point. If he hadn't gotten that bad call we would tied on the first event with an 150kilo press, he deadlifted 680 and I only did 655, but his was a strategy call and mine was a max effort, dude had about 720 in him! I beat him on the farmer's hold by 10s, 61s to his 51s, and on the last event (atlas stones) I couldn't surpass him, so we both shut it down after we secured our placings. If a placing was on the line, our numbers would have been much higher, but I think he would have edged me out anyway! Funny thing is, if I competed in the 231, or 265+ I would have easily won, but it's always an honor to compete with Kirk, but goddamn those trophys were COOL! We are going head to head in York, PA on 6/28 and i think I can get him this time!

That competition looks like so much fun. Would be cool if more gyms participated in these type of events.

Anyone ever get hurt at contests like these?? It seems like it wouldn't be that uncommon, when you have guys pushing it to their absolute limit to press the big weight, or maybe drop an Atlas stone on themselves, OUCH!!! That 1 dude looked like he was hurting when he messed up his bicep tendon deadlifting..

Some of the competitors have been asking me for a contest DVD. I didn't shoot it with that in mind and so I don't have complete coverage of the event. Let me ask you, if I was to shoot a straightforward video of the contest next year would you be inclined to drop 20 or $25 bucks for it?? Or is it not that important to you?

mike, I would buy any contest I was in ... but my suggestion tho would be to film Linden Yard Crew's NJ's Strongest man in Atlantic City, NJ. Last weekend of August. 6 exciting events (husafelt, 6 implement press medley, max log, 3 yoke medley, 100ft farmers & their are 3 stones, you hit each 1 over the bar twice and after the first 6, you attempt to repeat. You have 90 seconds). Great venue (Fitness Expo) and LYC puts on the best contests in the country. Ask Kirk Nowack if you don't believe me !!! You will sell 50 DVD's easy @ 25 a pop.
