I have sit here all morning watching CNN live coverage of the rescue efforts in New Orleans. I have been watching them pluck people ... one by one, from houses using helicopters.

My questions is this.... why are they not using BOATS to pick these people up? You could fit alot more people on boats right? They have plenty they could use right? Wouldnt it be faster, cheaper and all around more efficient.
What is the logical reason for not using boats?

Anyone?

They are. Air boats, boats with outboard motors. etc, etc.

I must be missing something then.... when it shows wide view shots from the news helicopters i have yet to see a boat anywhere.
You would think it would be traffic jamed with boats given the amount of people that needed to be rescued.

Hmmmm go figure

I saw this question answered on the news.

The water still has some live electric lines.

There are also gas lines still spewing gas and fire in the water.

The people would have to jump from their balcony or roof and imagine the ourtrage is a person drowned or was to jump and land on something under the water and seriously injure themselves.

The water is also so contaminated with bateria etc that they said swallowing just a cup of it could seriously put someone at risk who has gone days with no food or water.

Yeah that makes since. I knew there had to be some logical reason for not using boats....
Guess its just not so safe right now.

Gee... I never thought my first post would be non-bodybuilding related!

Regarding the contaminated water..... Just where are they planning to drain it all? I sure hope the Gulf of Mexico is not being poisoned with this toxic soup!

The women of fox have nice legs too. The liberal women of CNN (commie news network)... gawwwd. Their women look like the men. I remember even Janet Nero errrrr Reno had long flowing black hair once.... then she shaved her back!

I just got back from NOLA. There are tons of boats in the water. I went with a cousin in his boat to help out. They show the boats on the local news just not national. Strange.

water

The water is and will be drained into the lake which will most likely cause a huge ecolgical disaster but what else are they supposed to do with it.
