I know this isn't a lot especially for the monsters around here but I'm just a little guy and it was a PR for me yesterday. At the gym we have a powerrack that can be set up to do Rack deads out of where you are starting about 3 inches from the ground. I'm built lanky and this helps me as I'm not as flexible as I should be. I do regular deads also but mostly for reps not as heavy.

I did the following sets for rack deads as described above:

135 * 14
225 * 12
315 * 8
365 * 6
405 * 5 PR!!!!!!

I've only done 405 as a DL 1 time and for sets of 2 as a rack dead, this was my new personal best and I felt great about it. Also, not hooks or straps used just a pair of gloves. My lower back and hams are fried today!! :D

I diggin' the excitement in your post Jfunk! I love that rush when you make that first best pull with those big plates. That makes for a good feeling day doesn't it?
 
Good job, I don't own a weight belt. The most I can do is 350 before my spine feels like it's ripping out of my back.

It is definitely when I feel at my best, I love holding the weight, looking into the mirror knowing that this is a new best for myself. The gym has become the place to get away from all the stresses in my life and not have to worry about if someone else did there job today, it's me v. weights. I'm sure a lot of people on here can understand this but it's when I feel like I'm at my best and most content right now. :)

405 is a lot of weight... especially for 5 reps! You can definitely be proud of yourself! Good job jfunk! :)

dont discredit yourself saying its not a lot of weight. the very fact that you do deadlifts is great. its such a basic, core exercise. try asking one of those 'bench and curls' guys at the gym to deadlift with you, then you wont think its so light!!!!

i hit a pr recently too, it was great, was really sore for like 4 days.and kinda sore for another 4. lol, i did xxx for 7 reps of deads, great feeling. my next attempt will be for a very round number. phil will yell at me tho.
