Nolvadex and Femara

Does anyone use Nolva and femara at the same time? Alternate days, etc? I read that using both decreases the effectiveness. Does anyone have any real world experience? Thanks.

I've never done it but don't see why it's a problem unless there's a "direct" contraindication about this combination.

They both have different action as I'm sure you're aware. Letrozole is an anti-aromotase - prevents test from converting to estrogen. Tamoxifen is and anti-estrogen - blocks/binds to receptor site to preventestrogen from binding.

I'd use the analogy of having a stomach ache. You could take both aspirin (pain reliever) and an anti-acid (symptom reliever).

Thanks for the input. That is what I thought also. First block the estrogen from binding, then destroy it. That way when you come off you won't experience the rebound of Nolva alone. Thanks again.

I use femara M to F and nolvadex on the weekends.
Nolva twice a week (weekends) seems to be enough to stop the gyno while femara for the rest of the time is good for keeping water retention down.
Interesting thing with me is that femara by itself doesn't prevent my gyno flaring up.

Using both doesnt make them less effective. I believe it just makes the tamoxifen less effective , thus you need to take more tamoxifen. Also, doesnt letro have a rebound effect? Thats enough to keep me away. Anyway i could be wrong and speaking of a different aromatase inhibitor.

Never heard of a rebound with letro. Letro is purported to increase LDL substantially and tamoxifen substantially reduces LDL. So I can see great synergistic benefits in incorporating BOTH!

One reason alone to run them both is so your lipid profile doesnt get too whacked out. letro will mess up your lipid profile and nolvadex will actually help it so on cycle you wouldnt take those levels off the charts so much.
