Not Good Cholesterol Results

Were you fasted? Those triglycerides stand out to me as the first thing you want to reduce. The normal range is usually <150 but that's wrong. Under 70 is really what you want. Not being fasted before a blood test than give a false high. How is your diet?

nothuman, happy you bring this up - my last BW i got my cholesterol was off the charts. i went in to my doc just to get my test levels and metabolic panel checked.

when he said lets do cholesterol, i said i ate - he said it doesnt effect the results and if it does maybe by a few points.

how true is this in your opinion and have you ever done both? fasted and non fasted. if so what was the difference in numbers.

thanks

Surprised that no one brought up your HDL.

If your HDL is under 60, that's Not Great.
Under 40, and your Risk for Heart Disease goes up.

Add to that your Triglycerides, and you could have Problems down the road if it's not addressed............................... JP
P.S.
Diet doesn't look Terrible, some Good Suggestions were made.
Getting your Body Fat down will do Wonders for your Cholesterol

So I had these tested agin, 4 weeks later.

Admittedly, my diet hasn't been perfect and nor have I added cardio as much as I hoped, but I have extended my workout time to averaging 90 mins now lifting weights.

Here are my new results:

Total Cholesterol - 197 (was 212)
HDL - 34.083 (was 30.93)
LDL - 139.2 (was 181.74)
Trig - 123.99 (was 106.28)

On the right track, will correct the things that havent been properly done this last 4 weeks and hopefully see more of an improvement. Will wait a further 6 weeks now.

I've been taking this supplements on top of my normal daily routine.

1000mg Citrus bergamot
4g Krill Oil
1 avocado per day
10g mixed nuts

Cut beef a lot, just 1-2x per week. No added salt, avoided sugar. Cut Primo 400-500mg per week.

That is a nice improvement. My cholesterol came down when I added Macrolife greens and reds every day.

I wouldn't waste time with the niacin. It might help your numbers out but hasn't been shown to increase life expectancy at all according to examine.com. Cardio, krill oil, oats, and fruit pectin work wonders for me.

Thought on my recent blood work and advice?

I need to bring up HDL, bring down LDL and get my cholesterol overall looking better I feel.

On TRT 90mg/wk of exogenous Test *(subq) 3x 30mg week. 2iu HUMATROPE our day. I add 300mg Primo Enan sometimes weekly, but haven't done this for 5+ weeks now. My last cycle using Test P/Tren/Var was March 2018.

I translate this (I'm in the UK so different measurements) to:

Total Cholesterol - 212.68 mg/dl
HDL - 30.93 mg/dl
LDL - 181.74
Trig - 106.28
Serum cholesterol/HDL ratio - 6.9

Using this: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK33478/

Supplements:

400mg Curcumin per day
200mg Humanofort per day
2,700mg Omega-3 per day
2 Per Day - Life Extension
Vitamin K2 Complex
MacuGuard
1 TBPS Coconut Oil
100mg CQ10
600mg NAC per day
Injectable Vitamin B12 1000mcg 3x week

Start eating 2 to 3 raw egg yolk per day. Be sure that the eggs are from hens are on corn free diet.

I've read it can also hurt a few other numbers like homocysteine and such. Seems like a bit of a wild card so I prefer not to use it.

Will add a greens powder. I did before but it caused stomach upset.

Instead of a greens powder, I like blending some actual greens with some berries or just blueberries and drinking it. Maybe add stevia for flavoring. Blueberries are a powerful health elixir.

My AM protein shake has a mixture of blueberries, strawberries, black berries and red berries inside.

So if your HDL is 39 and your LDL is 65 then you are at risk of heart disease?

I'll let someone with more knowledge on cholesterol elaborate, but carbs play a role in triglycerides - it's not just all about fat consumption.

Carbs play a HUGE roll in the trigs. I eat low carb about 100+/- grams per day and occasionally less than 50. Recent blood work showed total cholesterol at 234. This really isn't an issue. Trigs were 64, hdl 67. A1c was 5.0. It's the tri/hdl ratio you should be concerned with. 1/1 or less. Btw, I eat eggs and bacon everyday for breakfast and red meat later in the day.

I had bloods done again for cholesterol. Results below, 4 months after last test.

Trig: 123.99
Total Cholesterol: 177.88
HDL: 34.80
LDL: 119.87
HDL % of total: 20%

*old results from 4 months ago*

Total Cholesterol - 197 (was 212)
HDL - 34.083 (was 30.93)
LDL - 139.2 (was 181.74)
Trig - 123.99 (was 106.28)

No alcohol or cigarettes.

2g Krill oil per day
1g Curcumin
4g Fish oil
1g Citrus Bergamot
750mg TUDCA
600mg NAC
200mg Ubiqiunoil

+ others.

15mg TE per day subq.

I'm tempted to drop ALL supps and get tested again in 3 months to see if they actually make much difference...

You may need a Statin to fix the issues. Also, once I switched to omegalyze vs fish oil its increased my good cholesterol.

Up your coconut oil intake, 5-10 gm. Add in some omega 3 fish oil as well. Don't be afraid of the good fats.
