Hey bros I'm having some bathroom probs and could really use some of your help guys. I feel like I have always had some sort of issues with digestion/elimination although I don't think I'm allergic to any food. I've always gone once a day max but more recently have only been going every other
Day even though I consume a lot of food. I've tried metamucil and I've drink approx a gallon a water a day. What gives and what suggestions do you guys have

more fiber and possibly even a stool softener.. natural one that is stimulant free... get walmart brand, pop a few before bed and should wake up for a healthy dump then stay consistent with your fiber... i think the avg is like 25-35gram intake daily but that for the avg person feel free to kick it up to to 40-50+ depending on how your diet is and if your eating a lot of various constipating foods... prunes is also another good cheap alternative... eating a handful of dried prunes a few times a day does wonders for some

If you can do a 2 day weekend fast that would help a lot. I would add the probiotics and Betaine with other enzymes to each meal. I like to use a product made by Dr. Shulze's intestinal formula #1

adding some fiber in your diet should help somewhat. A doctor can prescribe you a stool softener. I am sure there is a natural supplement you could probably take. Maybe check at your local drug store or health food store..

get atleast 14g of fiber per 1000cals and youll be set. throw in a little epsomsalt if you need a softener.

Sugar Free Metamucil 2x a day and that will fix your problems;)

Doctor says...

My daughter has issues with constipation. Her doctor has us giving her a 3/4 full cap of Miralax/day (you can take a full cap) and it's worked extremely well. He says she can take it daily without worrying about any long term use problems--meaning it's safe.

You need to get at least 30 grams of fiber/day. That means you need to count it like calories, fat, and protein. I take Konsyl Psyllium to supplement any shortage in my diet. Metamucil has too much sugar and non-essential crap it that it takes several table spoons to get enough fiber--it's crap!

Magnesium is also an excellent way to soften your stool along with other health benefits. Take the recommended dosage to start, then increase it until you see it really soften then cut back 1 tab and see what happens.

instead of throwing in external remedies or medicine at the problem, attack the root of the problem; your diet. something in your diet is causing you to back up.

reevaluate what you are eating. take things out, add certain things in as substitute. bodybuilding is a lot about learning how your body reacts to certain foods, not only for growth, but you need to know how your body responds to foods in terms of GI health. for example, if you're getting gas, diarrhea, etc although you might be getting decent gains, there is still something wrong with your diet

pretty simple, unless you have some serious gastrointestinal issue, in which I would go see a specialist

good luck

^ finally a voice of reason! lol

this is such an important part of digestion and recovery and all that that so often people don't pay attention to.

I had problems withthis for a long time but don't anymore and feel very good as far as digestion goes.

things I feel help a lot:

regular schedule, wake up and go to sleep at similar times, go to the bathroom at the same times.

I feel that my digestion got a lot better when I started doing what most would call an IF type diet.

it is not exactly that but I do have times each day where I do not eat, really I don't eat in the morning ever, unless I do a lot of cardio first. I really feel this fasted time helps.

don't eat processed foods! n bread pasta or anything that doesn grow on its own, when I eat these things 100% it shows and in variations in digestion or bowl movement.

avoid gluten!

eat fruits and veggies, I eat 1-3 apple a day, sometimes some pineapple and I try and have some broccoli or other veg at dinner, also I always eat my potato skins. i don't go crazy with veg or fruit though, i have done fiber drink and like them but sticking to my regular diet is pretty effective.

i would say i usually go tot eh bathroom 3-4 times ed. i feel very good and never have stomach pain or digestion issues.

pay attention to this stuff, it will help you

Diet-plenty of veggies and healthy fats. Replace some carbs with Coconut oil.

A detox like Maldorf said would help also.

post your diet. Recently had a 6+ month giardia infection that destroyed my gut health (currently rebuilding it) so I've been around the block a few times with this whole issue.

That's awful ! Did you know you had giardiasis ? Or did it take 6 months to clear ?

OP add in some oatmeal to your diet. It has a mixture of insoluble and soluble fiber. Add some to your protien shakes uncooked. Or have a big bowl in the morning. It keeps me regular if I'm having constipation issues.

oatmeal does the exact opposite to me. i feel bloated and full for hours. chia seeds work well for me to keep regular

It could be your sensitive to a certain food you consume regularly. For me, any type of bread or dough causes pretty severe bloating and just wrecks my bowl movements regularity. As soon as I removed bread from my diet my bowl movements went back to normal and I felt 1000 times better.

I had giardia from drinking water from a stream up in Alaska. I caught it real early and the meds took care of the problem within a few weeks. It was some nasty explosive stuff that comes with giardia, along with a shit-load of weight loss.

Some people have issues with constipation no matter what there diet consists of. If OTC meds are needed in the short term, why not use them?

Sometimes it is as simple as drinking more water, try a gallon a day for a week it may surprise you.
