O/T 42 y/o Wife Diagnosed with DCIS (breast cancer)

My wifes Ma had it 35 yrs ago, caught it early, it never came back. I wish you both the best of luck, and good health moving FWD..

Hopefully everything well! Keeping your family in my thoughts!

thanks all. Double mastectomy and reconstruction completed on tuesday (she had implants put in so no second surgery needed). All went well. Right now I'm just playing nurse.

Truly, thank you for all the notes, thoughts, and prayers. Pretty wild that that kind of a surgery is an outpatient procedure now!

Wow, double mastectomy AND reconstruction all at the same time. I didn't know they were doing that. Be a good nurse/husband!

A lot of surgeries are outpatient if the main factor afterward is pain management. Obviously they give you examples of things to look out for like signs of infection, where you would need to get her to the hospital ASAP. I hope she is through the worst and you guys go on to live long and happy lives!!

Hoping for a rapid recovery. Take care of her mate!

thank you so much! Yeah covid really changed it all. I work in orthopedics and damn near everything possible is outpatient. Your chance of infection is much, much smaller if they can get you home you are dead on right. I knew nothing about this world of breast surgery though.

We sought out a doctor and surgeon that really specialize in this it's not necessarily the norm as you noted. Thanks again man!!

I’m sorry that you’re dealing with this and I wish your wife a quick recovery. I’m sure you will both pull through this bud.

We got the full pathology report of the removed tissue and what we got what we were hoping for. It showed the only place of cancer was the 3mm spot (there was no tumor, which we knew) and it was confirmed non-invasive ductal carcinoma in situ. Confirmed it did no spread to lymph nodes (we expected it did not) they also did the dye test to check for "microspread".

No chemo, no radiation, no pills. Nothing better than than seeing "procedure is considered curative" at the very end of it.

Drainage tubes come out tomorrow (thank God lol).

Hey Flex, for whatever weird reason I just saw this. Good luck to you and your wife bro, wishing the best for the both of you
