O/T Anybody here suffered from a torn mcl??

sup guys.

I was in the field today for my job and to keep this short i torn my mcl in my left leg chasing after an offender. my foot went into a pot hole.

MRI shows a one inch hairline tear. got it braced and iced as we speak. my question is guys who have torn their MCL did u guys let it heal on its own or did u guys go for the scope to fix it.

my doc is advising me to get the scope to get inside and clean it up and warns me that letting it heal on its own is a risk? prob is i might be shelved for 3 months and i dont want that

ne ideas or thoughts guys??

I tore both mine a few years ago at different times playing sport and I bit the bullet and got them repaired as per docs advice. They can heal on their own to a certain degree if you allow them to but as youre on this board I imagine you put them under a bit more stress than the average guy?

You will be sidelined but you will come back knowing that everythings good as new.

If you dont get it repaired and continue to train heavy you run the risk of it going anytime and possibly causing permanent damage.

Get it looked at. An arthroscopy will tell the doc exactly how much or how little damage you have now.

Check into PRP (platelet rich plasma) therapy. The doctor I have been going to told me that they have been using it to repair all sorts of knee injuries with great success without surgery.

thnx guys. looks like i might have to get the surgery. job is pushing for it. Ill look in to that PRP. sounds interesting

tore my acl two yaers ago , all is well but the doc said knee replacement is in my future like 5 years or less!!!
