Why is it, all these years that I have been going to doctors, they never once aspirated when giving me a shot?

same dude.. but i think AAS users do it because they are not licensed to do so and that is the safety way to inject yourself so you dont harm youself?

It's their choice to take that risk. Plus, have they ever actually used a long enough needle to give you a IM? When I was getting certain shots they were supposed to be IM but were given with 5/8" needles in my glutes. Come on...I know most probably do but between the nurses and doctor, you think one of them would have caught it. It was actually my mom who did the one time she went with me.

I am taught to aspirate, and always will with IM. Not risking my license for that one time I don't aspirate.

It can, does, and will happen to professionals. Honestly you can take any person and teach them to give injections in a couple hours. Hell, my class was 2 hours on giving injections and that was that (we are taught to aspirate on IM only). No more. Not everyone is the same so you should aspirate every single IM injection just to make sure you aren't in a vein or anything. To tell you the truth, I'd trust most of YOU over some of the nurses I work with to give me an injection.

correct me if i am wrong. Most AAS are oil based which can cause problems if it gets into your bloodstream. However, shots at the doctor's office are water based therefore it is irrelavent if it hits a vein.

i have no idea, the reason why my friend stoped doing in the glute is because he always hit a vien so now he does it on his shoulders, bi's. is this safe? he never hit a vien and never had a problem. whats your thought on this?

I have seen them do it but they do it very quickly because they do it many times a day. When you are giving a shot to someone else all it takes is a thumb in front of the plunger and a quick pull. If its in a vein, it will show up really fast.

elimou, it depends on the medication. Just because it is water base doesn't mean it's ok to go directly in a vein. That's why they want it in the muscle, slower release. Same reason they give shots in sub-q vs IM. Release. Just all depends. Most of the time, I highly doubt it matters.

I was being prepped the other day on giving rabbits tracheotomies before doing so - and they instructed us to put the anesthesia IM AND ASPIRATE.

But I am 90% sure it has to do with it being oil based. Because we inject all different type of anesthesia, saline, etc IV and there is no problem - it just goes to the target cells (after being pumped through the heart) in 4 seconds instead of 8-10 minutes (the later time depends on medication).

I've self-injected thousands of times in my "bodybuilding life" and probably aspirated once or twice... for my first pinnings. Never had a single problem.

Honestly, injecting right into a vein or artery when going deep IM is ALMOST impossible. You can pass through a vein (pierce it), and it happens quite often actually, but that's about it.

Especially since the angle of injection is not the same at all. You don't jab IV with a 90° or close angle.

That being said, better safe than sorry... I would never advocate to someone else to not aspirate.

The irony is that my very first inject into my glute aspirated a large amount of blood. So i do it every time now but never had a problem since.
