O/T: Generation Kill on HBO...

OMG is all I can say. For those of you who have HBO I urge everyone to check this show out. It follows a Marine Recon unit in the early days of the Iraq War. No rambo bullshit, actual, factual, no glamor. It will give you all a taste of what our men and women have been through, and most people have forgotten about. Wow. Please watch this show, it will open your eyes. Hug a sailor/soldier/marine/airman. That is all.

surprised that so many are watching...

That's great. This is a great show. Even my pro photographer snob friend is impressed with how well it was shot. The directing (by an Englishwoman) is superb and the writing is stirring.

Read the book. The book is pretty darned good. The way the photographer from r.stone was secure with Trombley on the saw was funny. At one point Trombley is yelling to the other guys in the humvee about how he just cut some guy in half with his mg, nobody cared.
I think the mini series is good, they toned it down a bunch from the book tho.

Ya i know of this show.

Jason Lilley was my best friend after high school. He lived 2 doors down from me. He even lived with me at my parents house for about a year till he shipped out. We were supposed to go together, but i did the whole get a dumb whore pregnant, and ended up having to take full custody. Need less to say the shit they go through over there is crazy. Jason has never been the same, i have hung with him a few times after there unit was ambushed and he killed all them insurgents. He just isn't the same person. Like we were never friends at all. I have the utmost respect for all our soldiers! Peace.

Book is much better. Being a former Marine, it's difficult to watch TV or Movie reproductions of Marine Corps life. The make WAY to many errors in production and I find myself sitting in disgust saying "that would never happen, we don't do things that way,, yada yada yada.
ruins the show for me every time. Last decent movie was Jarhead, but best ever Heartbreak Ridge.
