O/T Getting Fire/Smoke Smell out of Apartment and Clothes

The other night, I guess I knocked back one too many and came home hungry. Threw a piece of chicken in the oven and woke up a couple hours later with my entire apartment filled with smoke:banghead:

The thing must have been smoldering away for at least 3-4 hours and now my apartment and all my clothes reek of smoke....

In the mean time I've had all the windows open and fans on.
Boiling vinegar and putting bowls of it around the place.
Sprayed a full bottle of febreeze aerosol.
Washed my clothes while adding a cup of vinegar to the rinse cycle.
Boiling cinnamon.
Burning scented candles.

Saw online making a solution of baking powder, water and vinegar and spraying it also helps. Going to try that today as well.

Apparently I can rent an Ozone generator for like 40 bucks and that gets rid of the smell in the apartment but 1) that could be money spent on a tub or protein and 2) I'm cheap anyway and the only store by me isnt open for a couple days

If any you guys have any suggestions it would really be appreciated.

There is a steam solution you can buy, call a dry cleaning company tomorrow and they should be able to give you a specific brand to buy.

i would seriously try to ozone machine. when i was younger renting i had a place that was filled with this smoke smell they didn't really wash the walls much either. anyways after some general cleaning i plugged this ozone thing in and a day later there was no smell at all. it kept dog hair to a min as well. it was amazing actually.

Damn, I was really hoping I wouldnt have to spend the money but I guess I will if I need to. Thanks for the input.... Is it safe to have it running while you're in the apartment? Easy to use?

Generally they are pretty easy to use, but I wouldn't be in the apartment when you are running them. Some of them, especially of the industrial strength you can rent, will produce way more than the safe quantity of ozone for humans. It dissipates quickly, and the commercial ones work pretty fast, but plan a few hours away. Talk to the guys that rent it out, as the total output amount varies greatly between models / methods.
