O/T Honey moon in Vegas, things to do.

Hi guys, my fiancée and I have booked a mini moon to Vegas in September this year - we are going to Mexico over new years for our full honey moon. But fancied a weeks trip over here first.

I've never been to the states before (live in the UK), wanted to know if there are any seasoned travelers or residents of Vegas who can give us some ideas on whats good to do and see besides the obvious. (Grand Canyon tours, gun ranges, big shows, stratosphere etc I had also seen a day trip to LA which looked good) If anyone can recommend and particular places to book the above trips this would also be good.

She is into her fitness as well so we are both planning a few sessions in some of the big golds gyms out there. I'd quite like to branch outside of the 'tourist' area and see some good sights. Go to in and out burger etc.

Any ideas or thoughts are much appreciated.

Cheers

Hey bud. I live in Vegas but don't do much besides work, train, eat and sleep.

A lot of those LA bus trips can be found walking on the strip. If you want to book in advance I'm sure you can Google that.

Red Rock Canyon on the west end of the valley is a great place to hike.

There are no more Gold's in Vegas either. They are called EOS Fitness now. The gym's are still the same though.

You mentioned the big Gold's. If you are referring to the Flamingo gym where lots of videos and photos of pros have been shot, that one was closed years ago.

Thanks for the info, and yes I was referring to the Flamingo gym - saw it in a few of Jays DVD's back in the day. Which gym would you recommend?

Pool Parties..

Daylight - Mandalay Bay
Tao Beach - Venetian
Encore Beach(Go Sunday) - Encore
Drais Beach Club - Cromwell

Clubs

Omnia - Caesars Palace (Just Opened)
Hakkasan - MGM
XS -encore/wynn
Tao - Venetian

Food.. Too many to list, most high ends are in the Casinos
My Favorite.. NOBU at Hardrock

All the lvac's are better equipped than the eos's
Eos will be cheaper
City Athletic is quite good
That's where Hide and Iris have their little shop

Love Vegas, try to go every year. There is something for everyone. I prefer laying out at the pool drinking all day rather than gambling myself. The food is amazing too.

One place you can hit up for a dinner one night is Hugo's Cellar at the Four Queens Hotel (old strip downtown). Its sort of a well known secret gem among local people who live there. Its reasonably priced compared to some of the rip off places (overpriced steak house, etc.) at the hotels that arent even that great. Small and in demand, reservations are a must. Good excuse to make an evening of old downtown one night to mix it up. Great cheaper tables etc. and still some really cool stuff you dont see on the new side (zip line across the main strip, etc.).

My boss goes every year also. He's eaten just about everywhere and seen almost all the shows, etc. He still manages to hit Hugos every single time and he has the $ to pay for any high end restaurant there. That says something, IMO.

There's an outlet for just about every vice, and it's hard to find something you'd want to do that can't be facilitated somewhere in Vegas. Congrats on the marriage, hope you have a blast.

Lived there for 2 years. Sandpig is correct Las Vegas Athletic Club are probably the best gyms out there.

Other pool parties: Wet Republic, MGM Grand. Marquee Beach Club, Cosmo.

My favorite restaurant was Ni9E in the palms. Great steakhouse...

There is really unlimited things to do, it just depends on what you like. A week is a long time to stay in Vegas, you will probably want to venture out and do the Grand Canyon and maybe that LA tour you mentioned.

Thanks for the info so far guys, will definitely check out that Hugo's place. Totally forgot that there will be pool parties so thats also now on the list. I'm not a huge gambler so I will probably only have a mess around for the novelty value and then just spend the time drinking and eating.

Out of the pool parties and night clubs mentioned are there any that stand out more than others or that are catered towards specific things? Would assume that we would need to book tickets in advance for a lot of these.

Can anyone recommend and specific gun ranges that are good and not a rip off?

Thanks guys

If i remember correctly the Gun Store is one of the main ones. All the nightclubs are different, not really a theme to them just good nightclubs.

The newer ones are Light, Hakkasan, and Marquee. The older ones are Tao, tryst and xs.... All of them are good though. Not easy to get in, you gotta come correct or you will be waiting for a while.

I'm from the UK and I went last November. Great time. Stayed at the MGM which is huge. I would recommend ceasars place buffet brunch.

A place called the peppermill for breakfast which I thought was very cool.

Fremont street and down town at night was a great experience.

Saw cirque du soliel O water show. Fantastic but pricey

The Siegfried and Roy zoo thing was great as well

There are a handful of gun ranges, not to far from the strip. I cant remember the names off hand, but you can shoot machine guns, uzi's, etc... Pretty fucking sweet.

My advice for going to clubs if your not on the guest list, get there by 10-1030pm. You get there any later, you will be standing in a huge ass line. Since you are going with your wife, you wont have a problem getting in. The people that have problems are the groups of 8-10+ guys with no girls. You will be waiting extra long..

I gave you list of pools and the best clubs.. Hakkasan night club is off the hook. Omnia just opened, and its owned by hakkasan group. It should be the newest hot spot..

And I wouldnt even waste your time going to the gym. You're going for your honeymoon..relax at the pools, drink and have a good time. Gym will be there when you get home.. Thats the furthest thing from my mind when I hit vegas, and I go there 3-4x a year.

Daylight isnt open anymore. Check out wet republic.

Omnia wont be open for two weeks. But it will be by your honeymoon.

Check out Hyde nightclub if you like smaller clubs.

The Chris Angel show sucks btw. Literally every other show is better. haha

Forgive me for being an idiot but coming correct as in?

Yeah my bad, but it means all of the things mentioned below. Be dressed properly, be ready to throw a guy a few bucks to cut the line, and have 1 girl for each guy. Sounds like its just you and your girl so you should be good.

I think he means properly dressed

100% dress well.

This is all good info. I did some hosting when i lived in Vegas. Get there early or it will be a shit show. You cant get a table with just 2 people, unless you are rich. So you might be able to meet a host during the day at the pool who will put you on a list, they are around and will be looking for people who want to go out, but its not totally necessary to be on a list and even if you are the guest list line can be long so get there early anyway. Just get there by 10:30 and when you see the bouncer tell him its just me and my girl, they will let you in ahead of the 10 dudes standing in front of you (usually)

I don't shoot guns but I know theres a range right across from the Silverton Casino more or less

Congrats. Las Vegas Athletic club on Eastern and the 215 is a fun , super large place to train while in town. There is so much to do in the way of shows and clubs etc. Hoover Dam tour is a one time in a life time type thing. If you guys are in condition the hard rock or venetien pool is awesome if your stating at either place. They may have day passes if youre not. Mistere at treasue island is fairly cost effective when it comes to shows and its really cool. They have a new huge water park open now too if your going while its hot. Tons of stuff man.
