I purchased one of those passport external drives just for the purpose, I never could back the thing up so I ended up getting rid of it.
The problem I had was that I would just drag the "Itunes" folder into the external drive and let it copy. No problem, except that in the "Itunes Music" folder, which holds all your actual mp3's, it would only copy up to a certain artist, I believe it was up to the letter N or something (doesn't really matter, point is, it would only copy up to a certain point). I tried this like 50 times and it would always do the same thing, being like a 320gb drive, and I only have like 16gigs of music and apps, there's no way there wasn't enough room.
Later on I heard that the only files you need to copy from inside the Itunes folder are the "Itunes Library XML" and the "Itunes Library" ... the itunes music, mobile apps, album artwork folders etc. are all useless if you ever need a backup. So, was the Itunes Music folder not copying complete to my ED actually a normal thing?
I'm really not good at this so if any people knowledgeable in this area could chime in it would be helpful, I have nothing backed up and I think I'd go insane if I lost all my files.
