O/T Is egg donating dangerous for wife?

She looked into a few fertility clinics and they will pay up to 8grand for her dontating eggs. Are there any side's of her doing this? The money isnt worth it if there are any risks. I did find this

wasnt on the donating side, was on the implant side with my girlfriend. However, the original donor we were not able to use because she had complications during the extraction and needed emergency surgury.
In addition to the obvious medical risks, her body is going to be pumped full of hormones to make it think its time to ovulate and be pregnant, she will gain weight, she will be pissy, etc.... Theres a reason people get money to do this, its not an easy cash cow.

Not worth the money IMO. Do you guys plan on having kids down the road? Donating can make it more difficult/impossible for her to become pregnant later on. Just my 2 cents..

Is she between 20 and 29? Those are the best years medically for harvesting eggs. She will go through a IVF procedure to collect the eggs. This is usually done via vaginal ultrasound. It is more (IMHO) a moral issue rather then a health issue. But donating eggs is a great way of giving another female who can't produce on her own a special gift at motherhood. Yes, and whoever the person is getting the eggs needs to sync up her hormone injections so that their bodies are on the same timing. The donor will be given hormone's to increase the production of eggs so they can collect as many good ones as possible, the woman accepting the eggs takes injections to make her body prepare, and then think its pregnant while the eggs are being prepped its like a 24-48 hour window from the time they remove that they need to inject them. They usually pick about 7-15 eggs that stand the best chance and incubate them with the sperm for a bit. Then they take the best 2 from that batch and inject them into the woman. Sometimes they go more depending on how messed up the woman taking the eggs in is, thats how they end up with 6-8 babies on those shows.

There could be different ways, im no doctor, im just sharing how our experience went step by step as it was explained to us.

She is 25 but were gonna do some more research. Im not liking that they need to give her drugs just to donate. What if there are long term sides they dont know about yet.

cant remember why but saw a documentary on it a few years ago.
it is not risk free

my wife did it and had no problems what so ever I did all the injections for her they took care of the rest. No post problems 4 years later.

I've been reading alot about there is a link between later onset cancer when women are older who did donations with the hormones. So, were not doing it anymore.

i know most of my posts have sort of been anti due to personally seeing our original donor have emergency surgury during the extraction.
But how is potential risk of cancer from taking hormones any worse than 90% of the people on this board are doing. Injecting hormones is nothing new. Hell theres links to T3 hormone and cancer. Theres links of cell phones and cancer.
I just cant bring myself to use possible cancer as an excuse not to do something in my life. I just figure if my cells are fucked, they are fucked no matter what so i may as well try as much as i can before i die, and have a good time doing it. I would take that cancer scare out of the equation. For every study you find showing cancer link, ill find one showing not.

My wife donated eggs about 12 years ago. I gave her the shots and its was no big deal for her. She didnt gain any wiehgt before or after. Her mood was the same the during the whole process. She had NO bad after effects and she was able to get pregnant on our first try when we decided to have a baby. She has been pregnant MANY times since The only thing I could say might be a negative is that she did have an ectopic pregnancy after the birth of our first son. I cant say if that was caused by the earlier hormonal process YEARS before. All in all, it was a very rewarding experience for her. She had a crazy experience the day of the harvest. Her mood went from elation to complete melt down and depression in the span of 60 minutes. SHe went in a beautiful mood, and after the harvest her hormones must have been completely fucked up by the whole thing. Its was crazy to see this unfold. She made nothing compared the dollars your talking about, but she did say she would do it again at the time. Things happened and we started our own family, so it never came to fruition.
