O/T- Sigma series, how bad did I mess up?

Yes the ole trusty Glocks I have the G23 and G27, I love my XD too bro.

PMCCHRIS and Gunsmith: My mind is set on a 1911, without any thought, what would you 2 rate these 3 handguns? Just put 1st choice....Springfield TRP, Kimber, or Night Hawk GRP....

1911 is a good gun but remember so many different manufacturers of them... Also remember ergonomics... I can't tell you what to get... Personally I don't like the 1911 series as its not a natural shooting position for me.

Have the glock 22 and a full size. 45 xd. Both are great guns.but I love the trigger on my xd.

Thanks guys! Thats why I love this board!!

Well after about 500 rounds the sigma started malfunctioning but it was extremely dirty. I cleaned it up good and oiled it and went back to the range and it did well for another 100 rounds. All in all I think the sigma (at least the newer ones) doesn't deserve all of the bad wrap it gets.

However when I compare it to the Glock 26 and even the old retired military CZ-82 that has never malfunctioned dirty or clean, not one time; I decided it wasn't right for me.

Today I traded up for the Springfield XD-45 ACP and I love it. I lost a little of course on the trade and had to shell out an extra couple hundred but I think I'm going to be a Lot happier. The quality seems to be what I'm used to and I just could not see myself carrying a weapon I didn't trust 100%

Thanks for all the feedback. I'm learning a lot. I think I'm going to cool it for a while. I have a full size and. Compact carry so I think I'm good now.

You made a good choice , not so much because it was a bad weapon but because you dident trust it

You will be happy with the XD , just the same run a couple thousand rounds through it and make sure you guys get along

If I carry, it's a pocket Kel tec 380. Bad breath range. I also have an xd40 sub compact that I have given some thought. But its a Thick gun.

Full size I have a 17 with a sight laser and rail mounted light on the floor next to my bed at night. And gp100 loaded with +p under the mattress. Long guns loaded in the bedroom safe.

I also just bought a Sig 1911 Rail Tac PAC. Very cool. Nice holster. Haven't shot it yet.

Honestly tho, I still think a more likely threat than a bad guy is my 86 year old neighbor who is 95% blind. But still drives. He fought on Iwa Jima.

So cc to me is a double edged sword. I could make some very regrettable mistakes. And at 48, I have never needed a gun. Fists yes, mace yes. Gun noooooooooooooo.

Not sure if it's a model M. It doesn't say that anywhere on the weapon. I believe the barrel is 4". It feels great. I can't wait to start shooting, probably tomorrow.

I look at having a gun on me like I use to look at having a rubber in my wallet

"it's better to have it and not need it
Than
Need it and not have it"

When seconds count the police are only minutes away

When you have a gun on your person you MUST remember that every confrontation you get in is an armed confrontation , weather it be a deranged crack head or an mad old lady , a gun is involved either way.
One of the biggest issues you will have aside from justifying your use of deadly force is that you are held accountable for EVERY round your fire.
If you stop a crazed gunman before he goes on a mass shooting in a church because you're packing but one stray bullet kills an innocent person you just went from hero to zero and rather than being a savior you will be looked at as a trigger happy lunatic

You would know it's a M because it would have cost $150 more. Don't quote me on that number. Plus it would clearly have a M on it.

I used to shoot SW sigma series, always had problems. Those guns would stove pipe, and jam all the time! HK, Glock never had problems with.

I was having the exact same problem. The cleaner it was and oiled up the better it would work but it just happened too often. I think having the Glock 26 probably spoiled me. I'm a clean freak but I swear that weapon could have been fully submurged in pond water and still fire. Hard to beat that quality. If the XD is half the gun, I'll be satisfied.
