Occlusion Training...Who does it?

I do it occasionally as part of mountain dog training and like it a lot. Burns like hell though.
 
so does the tie get done before doing the exercise or afterward?
would using a sock work, tying it to the upper part of the bicep?

Before and better to use something like a rubber tube or band, tie at the bottom of the delt cap above the bicep
 
Just to correct a couple of misleading descriptions…
You're not cutting off blood "to the muscle".
This method occludes the veins, not the arteries, so blood can still flow into the muscle it is simply restricted from leaving the muscle for the duration of the sets.
 
Interesting tool im going to give a try.....tie before my last exercise....both for biceps and triceps??.....Going to be a bit of a challenge tieing up on own mind!!!
 
I started this at the beginning of the weak for calves, and I've been doing it every workout, then I add regular heavier calf work with legs and follow it with the occlusion training.

Obviously I have only had a few sessions so far since it's just been a few days since I started.

The only results I can see so far is a vein has come out in my calf for the first time in my life. And oh man that shit is so painful.

I am having trouble with how much weight to use though, it seems like no matter how light I go after the first set of 20 reps I can only just manage 10, and then after that I fail at around 5. I guess Im not used to this type of endurance work.
 
I do it and I love it so far! Occlusion bi's, tris, calves, hams, quads, and calves :cool:

Watch for calves so last time I did it I fell over getting off the calve machine I was so pumped and sore
