Don't get me wrong but there are too many people coming to my gym with skinny frames and all they keep asking is how to lose a bit of love handles. I mean if you concentrate on adding muscle your metabolism will speed up. Even on these boards you get people that hardly got any foundation or have only been training for a few years and they wanna be ripped. Most people on bodybuilding forums nowadays keep asking about diets to get ripped, cut etc but nobody seems to be asking about diets to beef up. It's like when Phil Hernon said that there are too many people with average muscle that want to enter shows and then they all end up looking like Bruce Lee. You all these people taking high doses of Test, Deca etc but at the same time want to be on a calorie deficit?

What happened to real bodybuilding?

People don't want to have too much muscle that's nasty! LMFAO!!!! Seriously tho, people are going for the "fit" look. They don't want to be big, they want to be fit. It's easier to weigh 150-160 and be of average/below average size and have cuts than to have the same frame and 20+lbs muscle. That would mean hard work! People want the easiest goal to attain.

1. Be 185 @ 10% after busting ass for a few years which would be a good look for someone not getting on stage, and you look like you actually go to the gym for more than cardio

2. Be 160 @ 10% after dieting and cardio and having abs.

Most people will choose #2 as it is easier with less commitment

I second that. I rather look huge than look like a myspace ripped kid that has abs because he has no muscle on his frame

Its a trade off. Its also a matter of personal preference. Personally I find it tougher to be hungry than a hard set of squats. Some like big bulky stronger muscles. Some like lean and chiseled . To each his or her own.

Right on coach..

I have friends that have great genetics and could be huge if they wanted to but at 6'2 230 10% he thought he was WAY to big. Hated it. So he shrunk down to about 205. It's all about personal preference. Not everybody wants to be obnoxiously enormous. I on the other hand, would like to be Freaky! Haha

But, to each his own.

i know where your coming from I had a friend recently who weighed like 130 at 5ft 9 and wanted to lose fat ...he hardly had any on him.. but i helped him.

At the end of the day not everyone goes to the gym wanting to gain significant muscle mass, muscle is a hard slog to gain anyway especially if you havent been gifted with the right genetics it takes years of effort and even though we may look at someone who doesnt carry huge muscle mass but is ripped pointless the normal joe public will see that person as toned and fit.

To each his own i say and you goto be open minded about these things if everyone thought uniform...diversity wouldnt exsist, i like helping people out its awesome when someone makes a change and becomes inspired, it even gives them routine and structure in there life.

I dont think you need AAS to be 'fit'. I think AAS are for size mostly. It seems too many folks are juicing for a 6 pack...

generally speaking, you may have a point.
However, I think AAS should not be just for size. Personally, I think that someone who has had a sever injury and needs physical therapy to strengthen muscles could benefit from a low dose of AAS. Unfortunately, the media has made everyone believe 'steroids be bad juju, mon' and doctors are not willing to use it in this way.

Most people, serious bodybuilders included, use AAS for athstetic reasons. weather or not you use for size or looks, neither are legit reasons in terms of medical purpose. I dont think one calling the other out is wise. Live and let live, I say.
