Good luck on this contest prep. Have fun with it, and when you look back you'll see how much you learned about how your body responds to changes in diet, supplementation and training. It's pretty crazy.
 
Update: Following coach’s advice (and this board, lol) and just focused on doing the things as instructed- bam, down to 185 this morning with 6 weeks to go! Original target is 182-177, so I feel a lot better about my chances to get there.

Mood is very good, a bit tired and definitely flat looking (caloric restriction, cardio got upped, carbs slightly lowered)- but everything moving in the right direction.

Falling in love with the process more and more- I wake up excitedly looking forward to fasted cardio, walking and training. 🔥🔥🔥🔥👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏
 
Update: I hit first goal weight this morning: 179.8. Target was originally 192-187.

After the show I’m going to be in a GREAT place to grow, I think. Would love to add 3-5 pounds of lean muscle next year… three photos are first thing in the am dry and flat AF. 🤣 Exactly 6 weeks out today.

Next set of pics from today in unflattering light. 🤣 lowest weight yet, 174.1. Coach says keep digging, so continue execution.

Things I’m noticing- sleep definitely taking a hit, overall energy levels and libido didn noticeably. Getting really weird calf pumps when walking uphill, back pumps at the gym… but paradoxically, getting a good pump is hard at the gym even with intraworkout carbs… any tips would be appreciated.

My strategy has been to lower weights but add a bit of volume chasing the pump- hope to avoid accidentally injuring myself, now’s not the time for growth, it’s keep what I can I imagine…

Hit 173.5 over the weekend, and decided to celebrate high day with a cheat meal, lots of carbs (lots of sushi, soy sauce and a dessert, so sodium overload) and an Anadrol workout ( I wanted to see visual change, plus get a solid workout after 2 weeks of depleted/weak workouts).

First thing- I fucking LOVED how Anadrol felt. It did seem to fill me out some (I’ve been so flat for so long, to me it was pretty interesting and apparent change).

Today, gained 6 pounds of water, sodium, and 💩💩💩 🤣. Not freaking out since I’m a little under 5 weeks out, but man it felt GREAT. Gonna hydrate and flush all this sodium out the next day or two.

Anyway, some good data points to see what would happen and learn how I react to Anadrol.

Very very interesting, I can see the use case for possibly using it on show day…
 
Well, turns out I did hurt my bicep on Sunday… reposting here from another thread for journal purposes…

Recently had my first bicep tear Sunday (I’m 5 weeks out and definitely feel more brittle/fragile/ not as strong)- didn’t have BPC or TB on hand, but did have some GHK-cu. Pinned the spot where it hurts the most, and on day 3 swelling and bruising have come down markedly. Pain when it happened was maybe a 4-5, down now to 1-2.

Ortho tomorrow 8am. I hope I can still do the show… 😬

Apparently GHK can help with joints and ligaments, not just skin and collagen. Go figure. IMG_4511.jpeg
 
Update: went to ortho, turns out it was a very minor tear, and he cleared me to lift as long as there is no associated pain or discomfort.

Did a lightweight controlled, slow tempo push day yesterday, no issues. So we’re back in track, I just have to recognize that when you’re this depleted (172# this am!) you’re also very brittle and prone to injury- especially at 54!

So here we go..!

Brothers, we did it. 169.0 this morning. I can’t believe I’m knocking on 40 this prep.

Update! Bicep tear MRI shows very minor damage if at all!!! Cleared to compete, it just looks gnarly because of all the pooled blood under the skin!

So God willing, we are good to go!!! And my kid is so ready it makes my heart burst with love and pride.❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥 I still envy his damn abs genetics, though🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Latest check in today. 166.8, 3 weeks out today. Looking forward to today’s high day, to be honest- but even medium days I’ve gotten used to, tbh… I could go on for a while, other than the lack of energy overall.

I follow my coach 100%, no questions asked other than to learn - which he shares always. I’m humbled and grateful to Big Paul. The experience has been so good I will absolutely do it again, no question!!!!
