On leucine, do you supplement it?

Do you supplement leucine for protein absorption and synthesis? If so, how much and when? I add it before bed to my Greek yogurt, rolled oats smoothie.

Calories: 400 kcal
Protein: 40g (34% of calories)
Fat: 8g (21% of calories)
Carbs: 43g (45% of calories) ~30g net after ~13g fiber from oats
Sugar: 15g (lactose)
Leucine: 9g (4g shake + 5g capsules)
Fiber: 6–7g (oats)

Makes me feel very satiated. Anyone else?

I used it regularly in the past but it's one of those things that when I removed it, I didn't notice it was gone. Never considered if it made me feel satiated so I can't speak to that effect. I didnt notice any added benefit from it personally.

I ended up using the money to buy pyncogenol or something I'm still taking (which I also dont "feel" working) but it's a health supplement and not something I was expecting some kind of gains or performance increases from.

It's far more likely the oats are what is causing the slower uptake/more satiated feels. Too many things I have tried and used for a long time and the stopping, didn't affect a thing. The food itself is the more important factor for nutrients than supps.

I train fasted (no food/breakfast) in the morning so I make a pre workout drink with beet root powder, leucine, creatine, glutamine, liquid aminos, honey and Celtic sea salt. Carries me through the workout no issues with very decent pumps.

The leucine I added about 6 weeks ago and I can’t say it makes a difference in feel or look but that’s not why I added it. More for what it does under the surface with muscle in a “fasted” state until I can get a real meal in.

Exactly. Activates mTOR increasing muscle synthesis in a fasted state. Specifically, increasing translation initiation and biogenesis efficiency. Nothing one would likely feel working but more behind the scenes.

Bra you can't call this fasted 😅

That’s why I clarified “no food” and if you add up the calories what are we looking at? It’s insignificant. Come on guy, don’t be so literal. I really didn’t mean to hurt your feelings 😘

Lol I do the same thing so definitely doesn't hurt my feelings. You just can't say it's fasted

No kisses needed

I hear you brother. There’s fasted and our kinda fasted lol. Trust me, I train for 2 hours, I burn through that pre workout mix during my warmups. I’m on Reta so fat is melting off daily. That drink is to prevent as much muscle loss if any before I stuff my face post workout.

It’s not easy to eat on Reta so I get in what I can.

Bodybuilding is all literal.. always been. It’s the lifestyle mentality but I align more in your direction.

I do exactly what you do as well. Didn't want this to turn into a silly little argument.

I was just simply saying I feel anything other then drinking water is not fasted.

All g

Yea, I’m just a gym rat. What means one thing to me is entirely different to someone else.

I agree with you brother. I should have clarified that I was on Reta in the original post. We peachy🤣

I used it years ago and saw no benefit. I
I have recently restarted using it to see if it makes a difference now that i am older as studies show the body desensitizes to protein it seems just as it can from carb consumption over the years.

I use additional Leucine powder in my intraworkout concoction 👍🏻
I have used it when I use using insulin pre workout in my Mike Arnold inspired intra drink.

I use eaas pre workout. Does the science say im wasting my money? Good, then I believe in them even more. The "science " of anything related to bodybuilding (training, nutrition, etc) in my opinion is a joke used to make $$ and is not applicable to non-gen pop aka people who train to failure, eat more than 150g of protein, use aas, and don't consider 12% lean. The biggest guys use pre intra workouts to my knowledge so ill do what they do vs what a study on 12 frat boys tells me to do. /rant lol

Plus they taste good.
