I write a blog for "civilians" but since it's Friday and maybe you're thinking of dining here this weekend, here's a good rundown on what's healthy and what's not on their menu, including calories and fat/carbs. You might be surprised!

Can I get the non cancer causing alcohol?

There is strong evidence that alcohol causes cancer at seven sites - oropharynx, larynx, oesophagus, liver, colon, rectum and breast. It is also likely to be linked to skinin, prostate and pancreatic cancer,

Based on current evidence, there is no safe level of drinking with respect to cancer though the risks are reduced for some cancers when people stop drinking.

The supposed health benefits of drinking (such as red wine being good for the heart) were seen increasingly as disingenuous or irrelevant in comparison to the increase in risk of a range of cancers. Even if red wine has some health benefits, the upside stops somewhere between the first sip and the end of the first glass plus the good stuff in red wine is available from truly healthy foods like red berries, cherries, granny smith apples, walnuts.

Totally agree about the overblown red wine thing. You need 300mg/day or one of my resveratrol caps to have an effect on health,noteably increase BDNF (brain derived neurotropic factor.) However one drink/day for women and 2 for men in most randomized double blind studies that exclude those with genetic factors is indeed safe my friend. At least that's what the bulk of the literature shows. The "problem" is that women and men usually exceed these amounts..............

They piss me off! I got the alice springs chicken to go last saturday with cheese fries(I know Doc, I know..).
Anyway, they didn't even include any ranch and the chicken breast was dinky as hell. The portion of fries was ridiculous also. And they overcooked the chicken big time.

We use to go all the time, the owner became friends with us. I got tired of him telling me about their increasing profits, as the prices went up and the portions went down.

I stay home now and cook my own chicken breast and drink coor's light at .75 cents a bottle. Jus' sayin'

As it is, I just received my case of Napa Valley reserve Red Blend in the mail today

1 or 2 glass of good wine it would not do any damage. However to much alcohol can lead to nutrient absorption difficulties. Many enzyme activities can be disrupted by alcohol consumption.

so is there more behind your veggie conversion than the heart?

I agree the way the animals are raised and treated and harvested is horrible.
but that is what they are raised for, doesn't make it right or wrong.

I have been in chicken, cattle and pig slaughter houses/plants and I still eat meat.

We all have choices to make.
