OT/ Drag Racing

supposed to go south and test this next tuesday on a build we did over the winter to get ready for 3 - 10k races coming up

If you're into drag you probably know me.I used to have a S10 body Pro Mod called The Big Show,won fasted Truck in Pro Mod for quite a few years.Also in 97 built the fastest LS street car in the World a 97 Trans Am.You will see I paint all my rides Purple lol,I hate Purple but has made me lots of $$$./

I have been around racing my entire life I grew up with my dad racing 4 nights a week at local bracket tracks... but in my 34 years of age and the 30 years that I have been going to the one local track I swear I have NEVER seen it as busy as I did a few weeks ago when 2 of the guys from street outlaws show came!!! this place was literally PACKED!!! BEYOND IMAGINATION

Street Outlaws huh,were you Racing that night or just went to watch.Really just wondering.

Yep

Pounded the 1/4 mile most weekends since i was 16.. Mostly thankful for haveing a fully equipped mach shop whrre i work.. saved me tens of thousands/dollars to be competitive with the more richer folks . Going a little over 200 mph in high 6 second fashion is a grin no one would ever forget.. pro

just been doing some initial research. WILD just by adding a chip to my car i can increase horse power, torque, top speed etc by 10% maybe more. alll that for like $99 and supposedly a 30 min easy install. gonna do that asap.
i have so much to learn.

Depending on ur vehicle a chip, bigger injectors and a tuned exhaust will do wonders.. next step is nitrous, next is a supercharger.. then when u need to completely deplete ur bank acct a couple of 100/mm procharger turbos will make u forever smile.. getting the power to the ground may b a challenge though.. hav fun sir !!

I don't do drag racing but i do Auto-X and track races. WSCC, HDP, etc...
It does get expensive. Slicks are about 500+ each for my car.. 5 or 6 races and need to change brakes... but it is fun

Cool very nice.Circuit Racing is fun but a lot of people don't really understand how technical it is.So I'm guessing you have $160 in mods to your Lambo.

No mods. The car is a factory purpose built racer. That's just the cost of getting her race ready for next season - tyres, wheels, brakes, engine refresh, etc, etc

Oh I understand that 100%.That's still very cool to be Circuit Racing.All I really do and see is Drags from 1/8 miles to 1/4 mile cars,bikes,4wheelers etc.And also in to Mud drags and boat Racing.

Yes, that arrived in July last year. Very unique car with one off world wide options. The factory flew me to Italy last year in May to see it come off the production line.

I've done a lot of shows and rallies with it around the country. Even though I travel so much, flying all the time, she's clocked up 6k miles already - talk about killing its depreciation

i did a lot of drag racing before my kids started to grow up. they and my wife werent into at all. i would catch all kinds of flack from the wife about spending money on go fast parts, blown motors etc. i mostly street raced. when i went to the track i ran in no times (didnt want anyone to know what i ran). ive had several different cars (mustangs and vettes).

10 years ago i borrowed a 4 wheeler and took my family camping thanksgiving weekend. they loved it! that year we got (4) 4 wheelers for christmas and i bought hunting property and built a nice camp. no more bullshit from the wife. if the jeep or 1 of the bikes breaks she encouraged me to get it fixed quick so we can ride.

shit man I didn't even go in!!!!! I couldn't believe the crowd that was there!! the track sucks as far as the pits are grass/dirt and shitty return roads but its where I grew up... I just really have NEVER seen so many people come out to watch a cpl guys just cause they are on TV ya know

No shit,they are just like anyone else just in TV show.Shit I've been in so many Magazines,Front page lol,only good come of that is more business to my shop.

I was just at the track a few weeks ago with my 911 turbo and there were a few lambos there as well as a couple of Mclarens. Nice cars. One of the PCA members has an awesome Porsche 918 that he drove on the track last year when he bought it. Those suckers sell for more used than they did new just a year prior. Appreciate big time. The Porsche 911R is the same way. Those cars I can see garaging them as investments. You need another car to drive then. The 918 sells for about $1.3 million now and I think the price tag from Prosche was about $900k or so a couple of years ago when it was made.

It would still be really hard for me to have a 918 and just have it sit in the garage most of the time.

My mate has a 918 and a 911R among other things. He's clocked over 20,000miles on the 918 and it's still worth more than he paid for it. With the rare cars, they only go up.
