I’m a music junkie to make this short and sweet. There’s a bunch of great singers such as Layne Staley, Chris Cornel, etc. there’s another guy that you need to check out and that’s Greg Puciato. His vocals for Dillenger Escape Plan weren’t put on show until his solo material came out recently. He also sings for the Black Queen.

Curious, who’s your fav singer??

Chris cornell
Robert plant
John Kay
Layne Staley
Eddie Vedder
Bon Scott
Paul Rogers
Meatloaf
Bruce Dickinson
David Lee Roth
Steve Tyler
Axl Rose
Eric Burdon
John Fogarty
Freddie Mercury

I could probably go on forever to be honest, and that’s just the guys

DLR was only a good frontman..
As a live singer, he sucked.

Layne was both a good front man as well as a very good singer.
Also add to your list, Scott Weiland
So my top three/four would be:

Layne Staley
Chris Conrnell
Scott Wieland
Robert Plant

Layne Staley is probably my favorite. Corey Taylor also is a great singer who can do alot with his voice.

Sebastian Bach also

Respect for Black Queen and Aphex Twin references, two of my favs. Greg Puciato’s work with Error/Saviour Own (Pre DEP) is excellent and very Mike Paton-Esque. Trent Reznor, Maynard Keenan, Chino Moreno, Anthony Green, the guys from Dance Gavin Dance are favorites too.

Gonna have to disagree with you there, mate. I never saw VH live but I’ve seen some live footage of DLR and he absolutely crushed it.

Stone Temple Pilots are great but I don’t think I’d count Scott Weiland as one of the greatest of all time, as much as I did love the guy.

Mike Paton! Forgot about him. Can’t think of many singers that can do as much with their voice as he can.

Did you know he did the voice of the monsters in I Am Legend? Little random bit of Mike Patton trivia for you there

Gregg Allman is one of my all time favorites. I'm surprised Ozzy hasnt been mentioned. I disagree with Axl Rose. Weak voice. Good in a studio but weak live.

Oh yeah, Myke Terry (SP?), from Bury Your Dead and Volumes, has a very short EP out under his name that is more of an R&B/Neo-Soul album, kinda like what Greg did with The Black Queen. Guy has a great voice, but hasn’t done much else aside from that EP to showcase it.

Weiland was a great one too. I can’t believe I forgot him. I also think Corey Taylor deserves more credit.

Patton is a great one too. Good call.

Bruce Dickinson Iron Maiden
Ronnie James Dio of Dio/Black Sabbath
Roger Daltry The Who

Those are my traditional rock singers that jump out to me

Since I am a punk rocker my 2 favs in that arena are:
Keith Morris Circle Jerks/Black Flag
Joe Strummer The Clash

Those live performances on you tube all use studio over dubs
