OT, HEX DUMBELLS DOUBLED

Didn't know they doubled in price. A year ago .50/lb now they are up to $1.00/lb.

Anyone see them any less $1.00/lb.

Bro, hate to tell ya but just purchased hex dbells at an auction for a chain store that went bankrupt. Bought the following:
90's
95's
100's
105's
110's
Paid 10 each or 20 for the pair. Brand new ones!
Figure if real busy can get good workout with that weight range on any bodypart if really had to right at home.

I didn't buy any yet, been looking for deals at used sporting good stores etc. What chain store? If there is one near me I will check it out.

The answer is transportation. Fuel goes up, shipping goes up, and these are about as heavy of a product per size (density) as you can get when it comes to consumer goods. Shipping probably costs as much as the product when it all comes down to it. Dont forget, they need to ship in steel/iron to make the product as well, so it's affected at both ends of production/distribution.

I got mine from a company called Total Fitness. They had maybe 10 stores in the northeast but filled bankruptcy. Can you believe less than 2 weeks later they re-opened a few of their stores in the same locations under the same name.

Man I know what your talking about..i have DB's in increments of 5 from 5-120 lbs..Problem my 55-70's a made up and the rest are hex..i went to play it again sports to buy the 55,60,65,70 and they were $1 a lb...Walmart also has hex DB's up to 50 lbs but they have also doubled..Now @ 77 cents a lb

Thats so funny. I know actually what your talking about. They actually reopened about a month ago. I live near one. They where able to save a few stores with reorganization.

Lats, where in the "midwest" are you located? Do you have anything else for sale. I'm bidding out having an outbuilding constructed for my home gym and currently have only heavy bag, speed bag, double end bag, medicine balls, treadmill, aerodyne and mats.

Dick's sporting goods in my area (NY) sells plates and dumbells for 50 cents per pound, occasionally they have sales for 40 cents per pound.

All raw materials costs have gone way up this past year. One of my clients is a commercial developer and they have told me about the increased cost of steel, glass, concrete… everything. And Kaiser is right, much of this is due to exploding transportation costs.
