OT - Mr. McMahon

I feel very lucky to have grown up watching the Monday Night Wars and Attitude Era. I actually loved WCW in the early 90's too but it was very PG and cheesy. Vince was certainly an innovator. I remember when Hogan dropped the strap to the Undertaker and it was huge and shocking to young me at the time b/c Undertaker wasn't quite a huge name just yet and Hogan rarely put someone over. Later I remember watching the first Monday Night Raw on the USA channel and WWF programming was really pushing their Icopro supplement line (Vince was trying to get the WBF off the ground & his federal case was under way although soon to be over).

One thing I found ironic though, is how he poached wrestlers from all of the territories in the early and mid 80's and then when a few of his big names like Lex Luger bounced, he was upset because he thought they had a "handshake agreement". Did he forget how he snatched up the best talent in the country to get the WWF rolling?

Stone Cold vs. Mr. McMahon was one of the greatest angles ever IMO. Stone Cold was probably the biggest thing in wrestling in my lifetime. Even people who weren't wrestling knew about him. I got to meet him and he was exactly as you'd expect. That same day I also met Francine of ECW fame and she was at that time, probably the hottest most gorgeous woman I'd ever seen in person.

Overall, I didn't find anything too shocking in the documentary but that's because all of the "dirt" was familiar to me but unless you're a nerd with it, I'm sure there will be some shock value.
Sounds like we grew up the same way. Attitude era was the best. I started watching WWE after playing the video game WWF Warzone for the original PlayStation. So a little after wrestlemania 14 so stone Cold, the rock, Kane, undertaker, triple h, mankind, etc were big stars. I was way more of a WWE guy than WCW guy. I remember begging my parents to let me order the survivor series PPV in 1998 (I think) when the rock won the title in a tournament by screwing “the people” and joining the corporation

Me and my mom were big wrestling fans years ago.

Hawk and Animal (road warriors) were fucking Legendary 🔥

It's definitely an entertaining watch but like professional wrestling it needs to be viewed purely as entertainment. It has a lot of bullshit and straight up lies, like Hulk Hogan saying he didn't know if Andre would work with him during the WrestleMania III match.

'Savage' is definitely a good way to describe McMahon and 'insane' would be equally as fitting. His line about Rita Chatterton and the statute of limitations being up shows just how oblivious he is to the real world.
Exactly Netflix is in the entertainment business they want views.

Was never a wrestling fan growing up but a super interesting documentary. Fascinating for me to see how they passed the torch down. Hogan being the first great one and then Vince trying to give it to Lex and the fans never quiiite hookin on to him. All that shit is so interesting.

John 3:16

Must more be said??

Beers in the corner on the high ropes… fuck yeah… and brock lesnar… and wcw and shit man this and monster trucks smashin shit… the dreams of all little poor kids throughout the entire globe…

Great series. Amazing what he achieved. Seems he did get a bit confused with real life and his "character".... Or I think he is full of shit and the "Mr. McMahon" schtik is really who he is. What he did with many women (I`m sure lots of truth, some woman shmeer) is a disgusting abuse of power. Nobody wants to see a 70 y/o man kissing a 30 y/o woman, ugh. Keep that ish private Vince. All in his wife`s face on national TV.

I’m almost finished with it. It’s better than I expected. Lots of things in the documentary that I didn’t know about. I hate to sound like an old head but I preferred WWE/WCW back then because there was still an illusion that it could be real. You knew it wasn’t, but for some reason, you were in denial about it.

Now the wrestlers are all on social media and posting as normal people separate from their characters on television. Also it looks like none of them take steroids anymore, which is lame as fuck. Bring back the Scott Steiner’s, Lex Luger’s, Buff Bagwell’s!
Totally agree. I loved growing up D generation X, Undertaker, Kane, Stone cold, Rock. It was like it was real. Now it just does not feel the same, but also maybe I am no longer 15??
I have been watching a lot of clips with some interviewer interviewing undertaker. It is fun to listen to the back stories to a lot of the events.

We just got older and innocence goes out the window as we age but that’s what made the NWO such a great storyline. You got so caught up in the soap opera of who’s gonna turn heal next you didn’t even pay attention to the matches or think about the fake aspect.

It's was a great watch and walk down memory lane!

I'd definitely recommend it.

Sometime in the '80's I saw WWF and asked my parents to buy me the Hulkamania workout set. It had two small dumb bells, a jump rope, a poster with all the exercises, and a headband.

Rumor is I did them all every day.

This is how I got into bodybuilding. So I appreciated the Mr McMahon docu-drama for nostalgia.

I had most of the 80’s figures and the ring and still have a few in storage.
The most nostalgic thing I saw was the foam hulkamania fingers. Mine was my most prized possession.

From that era my favorite was Macho Man. I wore his shirt until it was completely disintegrated. I still wear one out sometimes. My brother saw him at an airport not long before he died and got me an autograph.

My all time favorite was Scott Steiner. Hands Fk’n down. Get a few drinks in me in the early 2000’s and I would say all his in ring commentary. I went to an autograph signing he was at. My ex wife went behind the table and sat on his lap lol. Surprised the shit out of him lol. We posted the picture here afterwards it was awesome.
