Well fellas, I am getting ready to have aa built in pool installed for the summer. I have to leave a deposit obviously so I wanted to ask if any of you have any recommendations as far as equipment is concerned. Here's what I have so far, but I am no pool expert.

1. Pool will go to 6 foot deep at the one end because I didn't want it any deeper.
2. Gunnite construction
3. 2 pumps, 2 filters. The second pump is to run the Polaris only.
4. I am getting the built in hot tub attached
5. Heater
6. One of those covers that you see advertised with the elephant on it... lol...

Is there anything I should look out for in particular? Should I ask for a certain brand pump and filter, let alone a special type? Any special plumbing choice as I am in NJ and it gets cold in the winter?

We are going with the Mountain Lake pool shown here, but again we're adding on the optional hot tub.

This is a reputable company (SwimMor), and they have done good with friends and partners on their pools.

Let me know if you have any thoughts.

I have a pool but then i live in sunny FL , i would ask the guys about a salt water system {pump, filtration system} costs alittle bit more in the install ,but it saves you money every time it needs chemicals added to it. The salt runs thourgh the pump and chlorinator over and over until it runs out weekly checks will let you know if you need to add salt, mostly a 50lb bag every couple of months will work and the bag only cost around 9 or 10 bucks that and some pool acid and that pool takes care of its self.

Yep, saltwater is so easy to maintain. I have a pool here in OZ and it is the best after a hard session in the gym. Initial costs are a little higher but on going is where you save.

Forgot to say i have the spa added {all is in ground} where the spa has an opening that makes a water fall and a pool heater as well and it all runs on the salt system. What are you doing for the decking around concrete or pavers. I have the what they call Kool Deck that is easy and the cheapest to do,

Thanks for your replies fellas. I think I am going with stamped concrete around it. I will ask about the filtration system.

Depending on size, sand, charcol filters are good. I have a plunge pool so I use cartridge type as it works better for smaller applications. When's the pool party??:D

Just make sure I get an Invite to this Summers Promuscle Pool party ;)

Highly recommend the heater, as the optimal temp to swim is in the mid 80's and early and late season, a heater is required to get the temp where you want it...

Would highly recommend a solar cover as it will cut your heating bills by 80-90% and it's quite easy to remove when needed.

Stamped concrete is awesome, that's the way i did it 3 years ago when I had mine installed.

You'll love it, once the process is complete and you are able to start using the pool.

That would be allot of beef in one pool. I don't think there'd be any water left in it :p You know you'd be on the top of the list though my brutha.

Well pools is my business so I guess Ill give you a couple tips...As far as filters I would go with a sand filter or at least a 300sq ft. cartridge filter and a cartridge filter for the spa unless the spa and pool are shared water then you will only need one filter...I would highly suggest NOT going with a salt system..They are a pain in the ass for pool guys so think of how much of a pain in the ass it is gonna be for you...they are not worth 2500 dollars...chlorine tabs keep your pool perfectly stabilized if you can simply got out and drop in 4 tabs a week in the summer and 2 a week in the winter....with salt systems you have to still clean the cell weekly and keep an eye on the salt level of the pool...I hate them...Get a Polaris 280 not a polaris ATV, the 280 cleans much better and easier to repair if needed...you gonna get a cleaner or take care of it yourself..?

Shit. You better let me come visit Kais! What about the outdoor bar? And Yes. We will need an outdoor kitchen too! Some of us promuscle heads like to eat! So you better keep the fridge stocked! hahaha...
Oh yeah...And can we get those "girls gone wild" to come and hang out? Or is Phil, without his shirt on, going to scare those little girls away? :D

Hutch, thanks allot man. I will definitely ask for the 280. So I guess the salt system is out. As far as the cleaner is concerned, it's going to be Simone topless :D (Well she promised anyway) I told her already, she is not hiring any pool boys. She hired the landscaper and the fucker comes here with no shirt and looks like Gavin from Bush, or a Calvin Klein model. I guess that's what happens when you let the women do the hiring... :p

Haha... I will have a mini bar set up once it's finished, no doubt Mack. I've got a commercial grill already so we're good to go there. And I think the rule of thumb will be that every male that swims, must bring 2 females with him ;)

OMG! Can you imagine this crew at Kaiser's party? :p can you imagine what his place would look like after that party? :D

UH OH POOL PARTY IN JERZEY!!!!

Don't skimp on the heater and pool cover. Ezpecially in Jerzey.

Question about the pool party... will J***** be wearing a bikini? That's something to consider - a whole host of bikini's for her. Factor that into your pool budget.

N**** wears bikinis. Holy cow... Can't wait for summer. I'm takin' years off my life here.

LOL... that was hilarious. I'm picturing the next morning. Cups and bikini pieces everywhere. Probably a poor soul face down in the water, a midget on a tricycle, empty bottles of liquid beef aminos, empty blister packs of pro-veer-on... Complete carnage.

Man that's it. I'm there this Summer and bringing TWO of TooPoo's girls with me! lol.

Ok guys, (girls) I have not posted on here in long time but I'm back and have been hitting the weights hard. I will be out at my pool looking as hot as I can. I work in a salon now so you can imagine what my friends look like. Since I started back at the gym I feel very confident in my pysique, so needless to say clothing for me and my friends is optional. :D

BTW, Phil said he'll wear his bikini :D
