I mean bodybuilding lifestyle in general. If you love it, even when stepping out from competitive or progression goals, you would still lift some weight. First for the passion, second for the longevity. Strength is directly correlated with healthy aging. When you say bodybuilding, do you mean competitive bodybuilding like getting on the O stage in open bodybuilding or bodybuilding as in getting pretty big and ripped, possibly being successful in categories other than the open.
Because now I think you could be very competitive with 0 carbs (once body adapts), but Olympia level would need carbs/insulin i think
Everything on Blood work is much better than when bodybuilding, nothing out of line other than cholesterol high as expected, cardiovascular - I've been racing mountain bikes and my RHR has been in the low 40s when in race shape. big improvement from 90's resting heart rate during bodybuilding. I do need to get a heart scan etc done
Would you give a days eating example and amounts please. Thanks. I find it interesting and commend you for happily moving on from bodybuilding into other endeavours. I know this is a BB forum but interesting when people change direction. I’m far more bodyweight based training now. A mix of injuries and boredom for weights moved me more in this direction and enjoy feeling more athletic.I think fasting gives a lot of benefit too, I bet alot of the positive come from fasting, 96 hrs is the sweet spot, I try to do every 2 months or so
Did you find it helped with any aches and pains at all? I’m 50 and banged upDon’t knock it until you tried it. I use carnivore during cuts. Last time I lost 33 lbs in two weeks. Came off easy as it was followed by a bulk. So freshly gained weight. If there was any muscle loss I sure didn’t see it. Protein was higher due to diet. So that helps.
I’m doing another month or so of it. And lost ten last week. 195 now and gonna go down to 185. I’m already seeing my veins across chest as I get leaner. 5’10”. But turning 58 and I swear I’m shrinking in height.
I tried cutting calories many times immensely and had no luck.
As long as you stay in ketosis you will lose weight and be able to keep it off.
Calories stay up on carnivore. So does protein. Only cutting carbs. As long as you keep lifting the fat will burn off. And for many the leaner they get the bigger they look.
After years of doing keto , psmf , very high carb ultra low fat i am more inclined to moderation in everything 300 carbs 250 protein 100 fats is my sweet spot now, making sure that i eat plenty of fruits , whole eggs sardines virgin oil etc. There is nothing better for health.Balanced diet > all
And since you want talk health
Mediterranean diet > all for health
"balanced diet"Balanced diet > all
And since you want talk health
Mediterranean diet > all for health

There is a long adjustment period , id say 9 months to a year before athletic performance on carnivore gets back up to the same level as with carbs. Took me about 9 months to stop feeling flat and to stop bonking an hour into a mountain bike ride.I do agree that all the simple sugars we ingest are a net negative, but taking in simple sugars around training and using them intelligently to fuel aggressive workouts seems fine. Can you use fat for that? Yes, but it's a less efficient process. I wouldn't be opposed to taking in carbs only around the workout (pre/intra/post), but if you are using good carbs, I think it's a better plan.
The carnivore diet allows one to stop thinking about total calories and just eat until satisfied, which happens sooner with protein and fat. Probably not a cheap way to eat.
Do you take a statin for your cholesterol or are you one of those guys that don't think LDL/HDL numbers matter?
I still love bodybuilding, I bike ride now, have young kids etc. Once kids get older I'm sure we will go back to the gym.If you did bodybuilding in a past i would assume you loved workout? Why did you stop? I could never stop and there were plenty of times when i was not looking for any gains- just exercise for the love for it. You dont have to take x amount of gear to bodybuild, even 100 mg of trt and weights are better then no training at all. Did you lost the fun out of it? Cause this is what it seems to me.
Statin is about the worst thing you can do for your health.Do you take a statin for your cholesterol or are you one of those guys that don't think LDL/HDL numbers matter?
you don't need sugar and pop tarts to bodybuildLmfao get out of here with that BS. We are bodybuilders around here
I was probably eating more meat during bodybuilding, it is definitely cheaper compared to my bulking days. The carnivore diet allows one to stop thinking about total calories and just eat until satisfied, which happens sooner with protein and fat. Probably not a cheap way to eat.
You lost 33lbs in 2 weeks....and if there was muscle loss, you "didnt see it"? lol i'm sorry, but thats not how the body works.Don’t knock it until you tried it. I use carnivore during cuts.
