People say that I might be overtraining and slowing growth but I think asking here would make more sense than believing them. I train hard and a lot of working sets but I also eat clean and stretch good everyday. I am rarely sore for more than a day maybe 2... I kind of thought that if i was overtraining I would be sore longer than that... Am I crazy for thinking this or is there logic to if I'm not that sore or staying sore too long that my training is OK????

Thanks!

are u natural? for how long do u train each time? how many times a week? etc...

Yeah, I'm natural... I take protein, glutamine, bcaas, fish oil, multi, etc... nothing stronger than that. I usually spend an 45 minutes to an hour. I warm up and for a major muscle group I might hit 14 - 16 working sets and 20+ total sets. I train 5 days per week.

CHest
Legs
Shoulders
Arms

Cardio 3 times per week 35 minutes. Abs at least 3x per week. Only once in the gym maybe twice rest at home after workout I do 50 crunches during commercial breaks.

If you need anything else let me know.

being sore is not an indication of growth.

Have you changed up your routine in the past 4 weeks?

Have you even changed up your eating a bit?

taking enough rest?

How is your workout INTENSITY?

All things to think of if you are thinking you are overtraining.

CNS burnout

Looks like too many working sets to me. Soreness is not going to tell you how overtrained you are. Most overtraining affects your cns and it takes a fair amount of downtime to recover fully. Take a full week away from the gym and see how you feel when you go back.

There seem to be signs of over-training. I think these are typical symptoms:

• Tired, drained, washed-out feeling, lack of energy
• Sudden drop in performance
• Can't sleep at night / Insomnia
• Increased injuries
• Persistent muscle soreness, general aches & pains
• Pain in muscles & Joints
• Immune system is off; increase number of colds / sore throats, etc.
• Moody; irritability, depressed
• Loss of motivation
• Decreased appetite
• Weight loss
• compulsive need to exercise

For me, when I'm overtrained I notice increase in injuries first. Then comes the washed-out, drained feeling. From there it the other symptoms can vary. The main thing is to listen to your body, especially if you haven't taken any time off from training in awhile. I use to go any where from 6 to 8 months without taking a week off. Now I take time off more frequently, especially if I have injuries.

So... how often do PM members take time off? How many weeks do you train before you take a week off?

Sounds like every symptom for NASALX :) or any other prescript drug ;)

Thanks for the advice everyone. I have still been growing and my strength has been continuing to rise lately... I switched up my routine about a month ago and added in more food everyday around then also... I may look into hitting the working sets harder and cutting them down a little bit. When i start training I just don't feel like stopping sometimes. Which I know I should and have too.

Thank again.

Oh... it does doesn't it. I hate listening to prescription drug commercials, most of the symptoms they list sound like the way I feel. Then I'm thinking, ok maybe I have that. Then when they list all the possible side effects, I'm thinking that's ok. I don't want to take that. LOL
