would this be considered over training? I'm currently cutting.

M- chest/tri's cardio 30min after
tue- cardio 30 min/ abs
wed- bi's/ back 30 cardio
thurs- cardio 30 min/ abs
friday- shoulders. legs
sat- cardio
sunday off

I just enjoy working out and if I don't I feel like crap mentally.

i don't see a problem here, but do have one question. . How long are you in the gym for, especially on leg day, which I did not see you including hams on any other day, making that a quad/ham/shoulder day. Everyone is different and skipping lifting to every other day has helped many who are looking for a specific look and muscularity. Also, if you feel good, then that's always a good indicator.

It is all about how you feel after and the next day. That will tell you if you are overtraining. Me personally I cant do that much cardio or I consider myelf overtrained and feel shitty and lose my appetite.

For a long time I trained Mon-Fri and never felt overtrained.

Nowadays, and mostly due to available free time, I only workout 3x week with sometimes an extra 2 cardio sessions.

I agree that if you feel well you should be ok.

yep, listen to your body bro. If you are overtraining you will feel it coming on as your energy and strength etc drop. Now, on a cutting diet you will be feeling these things anyways so you'll have to pay more attention to it but your schedule looks fine to me rest-wise. Bi's before back I would not recommend and shoulders after legs I personally could not do effectively but rest wise it looks fine bro.

Most people will disagree with me here, but I'm going to say it. 99.9% of the people on this board have never overtrained in their life or are mentally capable of getting to a state of overtraining. The human body is an amazing machine which can and will adapt if the mind will let it.

I think most people use the term "overtrain" as a crutch. Easy to say I'm overtrained when you don't feel like going... JMO

Only you really know if you're overtraining. Looking at what you are doing isn't really a way for anyone to know. How hard do you train each workout...balls to the wall take no prisoners, or the opposite of just going through the motions? Do you know what your recovery ability is like...and how to make adjustments if your not recovering?

One mans poison could be another's fruit. Your body will tell you by becoming lethargic, tweaks that don't seem to go away, joint aches and pains...more than the norm. We all should be training hard, but recovery is the key through rest and nutrition etc.

Good luck bro!!

Ill go ahead and disagree! LOL. I remember when I played youth football and I was trying to gain weight but after practice I would not be hungry at all! I would be tired and achy. The coach had us running hills, lines, and around the practice fiesld. All the running overtrained me and I was not able to put on weight. Today when I train I know that I did too much when I lose my appetite at night. Anyway we all have our own opinion. Good luck OP, listen to your body!

You came to this conclusion after a youth football practice? Your body told your mind that you were tired and achy. You listened, and called it overtraining. Running hills and lines is NOT overtraing. I realize I'll never win this argument by the way.

Just some food for thought. There are Kenyans that train for Marathons by running a marathon every day. EVERY DAY. Striving to beat their time by seconds each time. I'm sure they're tired an achy, but if they are consistently improving, are they overtraining?

I don't beleve in overtraining... Just listen to your body...

Ok...question for you my friend...

If you don't listen to your body, will you overtrain? Based on what you shared, you don't believe in overtraining...just listen to your body. :p

I know the body can adapt but I think the main point is too have it adapt slowly. You have to build up to running a marathon. My main thing was I was not able to grow because I was exceeding my limits everyday. I think the best approach is to gradually add more sets and exercises even with cardio do 5 minutes then the next day do 6 minutes. Producing muscle is the bottom line so whatever works

I hear ya on that one. No worse source of training technique/advice than a highschool football coach. I see it all the time.

Who told you what your limits were? Did you set them? What did you use a a guage to determine this "limit"?

Yes, If you fell tired, get more rest, Increase the calories.. You know, just listen to your body bro.....:)

To what extent? Do you listen when it says to stay in bed because you don't want to get up at 5 AM and do cardio? Do you listen to it when it says you're full and doesn't feel like eating the last meal of the day? Or do you listen to it when it says it wants Ice Cream?

I appreciate all the comments and replies. I'm thinking of possibly hiring shelby to get me to where I want to be.

i set my limits and the way I guage my limits is from how I feel a few hours after training or the next day. Not just being tired but losing appetite, anxious and just overall uncomfortable. I know when I feel like this I did too much training. Then the next time I train I will not do as much, maybe not do one of the exercises or drop it to 3 sets instead of 4.

Have you ever felt like shit after training hard? Not just the normal aches and pains but loss of appetite and anxiety? Its not a matter of will, if my body allowed me I would be in the gym all day!

im sorry but no one on this planet can train 100 percent balls to the wall indefinitely without rest, thats ridiculous. periodization is a part of any intelligently designed program, if top athletes like nfl, mlb, nhl, nba and college players cant do it and have to periodize, then most people here probably cant either...
