Suspicion...

Anything taken orally suffers from being degraded by the liver in hepatic first-pass metabolism. This means the liver gets first crack at things taken orally, and mostly breaks them down into inert compounds. Many oral steroids have a group added to the 17th carbon to make it much more difficult for the liver to break down. Unfortunately, this is aslo why orals are harder on the liver.

"Studies have shown" is a way of trying to legitimize largely useless oral supplements. What studies? Where? Some years back, the notion was popular that taking lage amounts of arginine orally would raise Gh levels. This came from a study as well. Problem was, when you read the study, you saw the investigators used intravenous infusion of some 30 GRAMS of arginine daily to achieve this result - NOT oral consumption, simply because oral consumption wouldn't work. But this misapplied idea did sell a lot of arginine for awhile.

Do a Medline search for the compound that's being advertized and check out these "studues" for yourself. See what the experimental conditions were that produced these results.

In the meantime, save your money.

I did a quick literature search using keyword phrasing, GABA AND growth hormone release in PubMed. Go to:

I found some small evidence for measurable, which does NOT mean signifcant for bodybuilding purposes, transient increases in GH when patients were put on the prescription drug, baclofen.

Balcofen is a GABA-B receptor agonist, meaning GABA-B receptors will respond to baclofen as well as GABA. This occurs in CNS neuron synaptic transmission.

I could find no studies in my brief review that used GABA to increase GH levels.

Ask the promotors of this product to cite their references when they claim that "studies show." If, in fact, there are studies to support the substances they sell, administered in the route and dosages they recommend, they should have no trouble providing these citations.

sub-q = injections taken in subcutaneous layer
IM - injections taken intra-muscular

Yes, you can go sub-q and IM=intra muscular. I have no experience with this product. This is info from another board that I frequent. Universal Kits is a sponsor there so there is a lot of talk about it there. That is the way the guys over there are administering it and saying that it works both ways. Just read the u-kits website about it. It says it can be taken by injection but they don't suggest it!

It appears that GABA, when tested in a variety of species, actually INHIBITS GH release.

As I said before, have the promotors show their supporting data before you spend your money.

I am currently using this product and am happy with the results so far. In the past, I enjoyed the sleep benefits of oral gaba and the tingling sensation is pretty cool too. Since it's basically the same thing, I figured I would give this a shot, literally. It's been about a week and a half since I started it and I can honestly say I get better sleep on it and have a greater sense of wellbeing. Lastly, I find it to help me look leaner. Since I've used it, I seem to look better when I wake up in the morning and do my daily “mirror check”. It's nothing too exciting but I thought I'd pipe-up since I happened to be on it, it was cheap enough so I said "what the hell".
