Paul Barnett won his pro card!

Unfortunately is no money reword in the IFBB Pro Masters , Rusty received $500 for placing first in the over50 and $500 for over 60. It is a shame how corrupt is the organization.
Even someone who turned pro in an amateur masters contest can technically still do open IFBB shows, right?

It's a very niche sport

Doesn't draw much money (compared to major sports) sadly, and even less winnings

Similar to fighting, bodybuilding doesn't attract the most well adjusted balanced upbringing crowd. It attracts the personality that wants to see extreme changes in their physique, and enjoy getting under 400 lbs after a 10 hr shift on Friday night before limping home, and eating chicken breast lol

If you good enough, but if you not wining first in any IFBB Open , you will be bankrupt.

The IFBB organization and the NPC make lots of money.

Because the winnings come from the competitors entry fee, the larger the show the larger the prize, I got 3rd in the 212 lbs masters class at the masters world championships a few years ago and got $1,000.00 because there were more competitors which is equal to Rusty's 2 wins. So moral of the story is if your going for the most money then compete in the biggest shows.

Open shows are paid for by sponsors and promoters, Masters classes are paid for by the competitors (not sure if all masters shows are like that but most are) you have to pay an entree fee to compete in a masters class, you don't have to pay anything for an open or 212 show.

Most people I know who compete barely break even or often times lose money. Drugs, supps, food, airfare, hotel, etc .. all engulf any earnings you may win. They pretty much do it for the love of the sport. A female friend of mine just won a bikini comp a few weeks back said it best when she said 'I love a sport that doesn't love me back'. She had around $4k just in the weekend not including what it cost to get her there and won a paltry $500

People wanting to be paid considerable amounts of money after bringing in no revenue to an organization is wild
Athletes in any sport do. Hence Amatuer versus Pro and paid.
