PC vs Mac. Which one do you prefer and why?

All great points. I've always liked the flexibility of PC and Android and like some others guys said, I'm just more familiar with PC having grown up with them. I've got a work issued iPhone and as much as I've tried to tinker and get more used to it (browsing, texting, etc) I just dont enjoy the interface as much.

The one exception is tablets - I've tried a couple cheaper Android/Samsung ones which were meh. Wife got me an iPad Pro and that thing is amazing.
Im with you on that. Ive tried to use my daughter's phones and I cant find anything, lol. Now the Apple TV is pretty good, but it has a freaking problem where the audio drops out occasionally when streaming Dolby Atmos. Apple either doesnt seem able to fix it or doesnt care. It has been there since they released the last gen early in 2021. I still use it because its only during Atmos and not a really common thing. Im hoping they can fix it because otherwise it is an awesome media streamer.

Anything from Apple does my head in. Nothing is logical about them.

Have you tried out an Apple tv 4k? It's pretty logical and user friendly. It's the only Apple device I use. Back in the 80s I used an Apple IIe. It was great back then. Nothing but Windows for me today.

What do you use for streaming shows/movies?

Samsung smart TV and subsciptions to all the usual streaming services - Netflix, Stan, Prime, Disney+, Kayo, etc

You'll get appreciable better picture and sound from the Apple, but if you're not picky about that sort of thing you may not notice. Sound if you're streaming to a nice avr or pre-amp you'll really notice.

It's great for Dolby Vision, but Samsung doesn't have that.

I am certainly not an audiophile and I have minimal time for TV as well. I usually catch up with movies and shows on planes.

Same here, PC and Android phones, I've come to like my Lenovo laptop and I stick to Samsung phones, just picked up the S22 Ultra. Was issued an iPhone for work and I hate the interfacing, not very user friendly to me and so I use it for very basic functions for work. Never got into the tablet craze, laptop and phone are enough for me.

Same here, have flip flopped between Mac and PC and like the interfacing with a PC much better, plus using a PC for personal use flows with me having to use a PC for work as well.

I use Samsung TV's as well, until this thread I didn't realize how many Samsung products I have for personal use. I guess that says something about Samsung.

I have both PC and Mac. I use the Mac for stacking my astro photos and I have Photoshop, Lightroom, PIPP, Registax, Autostakkert, and all my other software on it. I have a 4TB NAS box for data storage, 2 network printers, an iPad, two Chromebook laptops, an ASUS laptop, Galaxy Tab A, 2 Samsung phones, and her iPhone. Both my Samsung LCD TV's are really just giant computer monitors with a cable box and surround sound/subwoofer. So all TVs, phones, tablets, PCs, Mac, laptops all can stream video, view cable channels, and print inside my Cisco Aeronet hotspot.

Wife, son, two daughters, so I sort of have to be. For their school and our work. I set up my office and oversaw the data center so I just did my home similar although with a lot less power. Let me tell you, it's a real treat to have to police all the traffic too (lot of sickos out there).

I even have a Samsung Air cleaner in our bedroom. We had a Samsung washer but it was a piece of junk. The air cleaner is very nice. I switched from Samsung to LG tvs.

Anyone here use Roon for music streaming? Personally I just stream everything from Tidal and my family uses Apple music. I can see though how using Roon is great for playing high res music. I have some SACDs that I could play that way. If you use Roon, why not just stream everything from a service?

Hi. this is a difficult question. Many people claim that Apple’s technology has a special magic. I agree with that. Convenient operating system is the main advantage of the Macbook. However, I prefer personal computers more. The assortment today is much larger than that of a Mac. Moreover, all the spare parts can be easily repaired. My hard drive broke down last week for example. I made raid data recovery without much effort and expense. Btw, you should buy Mac, if high performance, ease of use and licensed software are important to you.

Imma technology dummy but mac for me. Never got a virus I think they can't get them could be wrong. As a kid I'd always get viruses from po n sites

this is the most baffling thing ive read...Ive been using the internet since the late 90s and never once, as in never, got a virus from porn websites.

Even now, the odds of getting a virus from porn tubes is incredibly low.

This was back in 2002-2006, when you had to search and find individual sites. Now we just have tube video sites to go to so no need to Google search for pics of naked girls lol
