I tore my pec back in May and had surgery in July to repair it. I was wanting to know if anyone else on here has had this and what type of time table am i looking at until a full recovery. I am also wanting to know if they had to alter there workout to compensate for the injury. I know that it will take a while in that about 5 years ago i tore my distal bicep tendon and had it repaired and still to this day it is not the same so i am sure that my pec will be the same. I am done with heavy lifting for me it just causes too many injuries.

i shredded my right pec and had surgery also (almost 5 hours to reconstruct the muscle).. mine was really bad though and they had to pull up muscle from my rib cage to sorta.. fix it lol took a long time to feel 100% and i still get that burning tearing feeling from the scar tissue sometimes (been 8 yrs) but i was lifting pretty much back to normal in about 5 months post op..100% normal at about 6-7 months. i cant even tell that it was torn at this point other then it just a little uncomfortable some times due to scar tissue. no i didnt alter my work out at all since the repair

I tore my pec major a little over 2 years ago. After my surgery it took 5 1/2 months to be released for normal training. My strength was back at 10 months. My surgen told me I could train as hard and as heavy as I wanted. I have kept it a little lighter than I use to but I wasn't going heavy when I tore it. Mine looks completely normal and every once and a while it feels really tight. But no other problem.

Depends. Was it a tendon rupture or just muscle tear. Muscle tear quicker recovery. Tendon rupture more factors like how good surgeon is who reattached etc. 4months for my rupture to get back to real workouts

I would definitley go lighter and take it easy. Work back in slow. Whatever exercise you tore your pec doing,,you may want to substitute with something else. Nothing that causes any discomfort.
