PED use allowed in new "Enhanced Games", set for May 2026

Also, a real question, who would chooose to compete in this?
Disgraced athletes who are on their way out of their sport? So they can tarnish their name and whatever legacy they had on their way out? That seems incrediblyyyy unlikely. So then who? Youngg athletes, they wont understand the legacy part of it and wont understand this is probably ruining the rest of their competition career, who probably arent genetically gifted enough to be a top circuit?

the ideaaa, by itself, sounds cool and fascinating. But the execution of it is so fuckin hard and is probably worse for our society than anything else.

This is actually my thought right here. You compete once in this and in the public's eye you delegitimize your previous and post success in the sport as you are labeled a drug user forever.

Honestly, and I'm sure a lot of guys here know, drugs remain rampant in organized sport, tested or not. It's more a limiting factor on what can be done than it is a binary clean vs dirty. Key to this is organizations don't go hardcore about enforcement and policy so provides the opportunity.

The real example of strict enforcement was cycling and man did they destroy the momentum around around their sport (good pun but not intended) for the past 20 years - no good came of it to public image, athletes, revenue to races, new people into sport, sponsors or companies. A lot lost there in overzealous enforcement and ultimately everyone lost or all opportunities were lessened. Sport is fine but man this shit really impacted it and not for the better. Meanwhile, baseball, football, T&F, etc...are still doing just fine.

Per your post, which is a good one, I can’t help but think about if it would encourage PED usage.

I don't think this is going to gain traction. In fact, I think it will bring more unwanted attention to PED's. People already know they work, but they've been told how bad they are. They're also viewed as cheating due to their status under the law and in sports originations. If ANY of these athletes have a medical issue, whether or not it is related to PED use, it will be viewed as a side effect of the PED use. We already know drug use is rampant in professional sports as well as the Olympics. If the athletes of the Enhanced Games don't break a long list of records, then it could imply that PED use is still a big part of the Olympics and professional sports. This won't sit well with these organizations, owners, etc. This is where I can see powerful individuals making sure the Enhanced Games die a swift death! The campaign against it will be how bad PED's, mainly steroids, are. It will reignite the general publics negativity surrounding steroids and could bring a renewed campaign against them. I'm of the mindset that the less we hear about steroids in the news, the better!
I agree.

Not only woul athletes who participate be mocked and disgraced...so would any sponsor.

Say Gatorade sponsored this...I'm not saying they would get boycotted and go out of business...but they would get bad publicity and be associated wirh promoting roads and cheating. Not going to help sales not going to increase profit, so there is zero incentive for anyone to sponsor this. Not to mention no legitimate network would air it.

But yet over the years look how many have been caught using PED'S in EVERY sport
One incident that opened my eyes to this was when they caught Andrea Ianone, a MotoGP (motorcycle) Rider with nandrolone (although in some articels they say masterone, so not sure which one it actually was) in his bloodstream. If they use anabolics in motorsports, then they probably use them in just about every top level sport.

Genetics are still the ultimate determining factor in sports. The best athletes will stay in the Olympics where the money and sponsorships are, plus a lot are already taking drugs. We might see some new records in Weightlifting...maybe. I think people will be surprised.

Absolutely, my prediction: no new records will be set because the top talent won't be there. Not even in weightlifting. That's why people will laugh at it if it ever actually happens, which I doubt.

Of course the Olympians also drug. However, if all the athletes were assured they couldn't fail their tests from six months out we would see new records for sure. The testing does hamper drug use, doesn't eliminate it but reduces it A LOT.

I doubt any tested athlete takes nandrolone willingly, so my guess is it's some contamination issue. Could even have been thinking they were taking another banned substance but it was dirty.

I will say this. I'm a sports fan I do not support allowing athletes to juice. But...if they ban aas they better ban glp too. You can't ban a substance that promotes hard work then allow something that is made for fat people who have zero self control and aren't willing to move more and put down the fork.

Unfortunately, there seems to be no logic with what things are deemed unsafe and which ones are fine. "Steroids" are the big scary guy in the alleyway; glp's are correlated to helping fat soccer moms attempt to get bikini-ready. The public perception is silly.

Side note, I love how body positivity went out the window when glp's came out. Shit was cope from the start lmao

Amen!

The article I posted goes into a lot of detail, I had only read german sources and they talked about nandrolone. It was masteron, which makes a lot more sense.

I haven no idea how seriously they took drug testing back when this happened, so I can imagine them taking mast p, seeing that it clears the body pretty fast.
