stay away, look into companies that are trying to grow, such as under armour (UA). Stock is fairly priced because of the recent split and in my opinion is well under priced

Find a sector/industry that is hot.
Then find the pennies/pinks that are associated with the play in that industry.
Do some research and find the pick of the litter as far as fundamentals (really all it needs is to be growing revenue at a fast clip which isn't hard for a small company).
Either put a research report together yourself or hire someone to do it.
Then purchase a huge amount of said pink sheet.
Next step is to hire a PR firm to get your research report into the hands of as many humans as possible.
The key to getting the right PR person is offering to pay them a percentage of your profits.
As interest increases people will start to buy, sell them your shares.
Rinse and repeat.

I am feeling especially generous today so here is your real world example:
There was a tiny Canadian company that sold organic cucumbers. The nice individually wrapped ones. They grown them with hydroponic systems in greenhouses. It was a profitable nice little business.
Now enter the catalyst - Legal Marijuana, Food Supply Contamination, Organic Produce Demand.
If weed goes full legal they have all the infrastructure in place to switch to growing marijuana. Management acknowledged this. Big Profits
At some point we are going to have a huge scare when it comes to food. These would be view as safe in case of that type of event. Big Profits
Demand for organic food is steadily increasing - long term growth.
So the sell here was a penny stock with solid long term growth prospects that is already profitable with two lottery tickets attached.
That became the research paper.
PR firm put it out there.
Stock went from 8 cents to over 2 dollars, company got bought.
