Peptides for opioid withdrawal?

wow at that dose, can't it cause respiratory depression? i figured the average dose was 300-600mg
No I get it prescribed and it say take one 3x a day. That’s 900mg. For someone who’s been on opioids for some time this will not affect them. I’m not giving medical advice. I’m just stating what dose I took to get me through withdrawal.

Here is what chatgpt says about that dose.

Got it — 1300–1800 mg/day.

What that dose means for breathing risk

* That’s a moderate–high but very common therapeutic range

*By itself, in most people, it does NOT cause respiratory problems

*The FDA concern is not the number alone, it’s the combo

When 1300–1800 mg becomes risky ⚠️

Risk goes up if any of these are true:

*Taken with Xanax / benzos

*Taken with opioids

*Taken with alcohol (even “a little”)

*Significant anxiety causing shallow breathing

*Sleep apnea, obesity, or lung disease

*Taking most of the dose at night and getting overly sedated

I had a back surgery and in the years leading up to it I was prescribed a ton of opiates. I was prescribed OxyContin, methadone, and oxy 30s. Over the years my prescriptions escalated, so that wasn't my starting prescription.

I ended up getting cut off from the doctor because he was under investigation after one of his patients died from an overdose of street drugs. One day I go in for my appointment and they tell me that they can only prescribe 30 days of hydrmorphone, and vicodin. All of his patients were cut off without notice, and it was planned by the city. They had worked with the local pharmacies and got them all to deny any script that he wrote.

I was ready to be done with it so I just turned down the prescription and found a place that prescribed buprenorphine. Big mistake it just became a replacement, but it did allow me to begin some normal functions of life and I never took more than 4mg per day, but I have been on it for years.

I worked my way down to under 1mg per day probably around 1/2mg per day. I haven't had any for almost 2 weeks. I used kratom to get this far and have dropped the kratom dose over the last 4 days. After I get through my shift today there is no more anything. This weekend will be my attempt to come off completely. I will take off how many days I need to next week, but I'm hoping I don't need anymore than a couple of days next week. Not looking forward to this weekend the withdrawals are something I have run and hid from for years.

For gabapentin most starting doses are like 100-900mgs. At like 100mg 3x/day people tolerate it well but 300mg 3x/day people report more side effects like feeling like you are on a ship that is rocking. 3000-4000 is supposed to be the top dosages. I never heard of respiratory depression from Gabapentin but its like a start low and work your way up for therapeutic dosages. I never thought about it being used to come off opiates.

It save my life man. I couldn’t see how I would have been able to go through withdrawals without it. The thing is withdrawals won’t kill you. Well only Xanax withdrawals if a person abused them that can kill you from heart failure. My niece best friend R.I.P use to do them with my niece like they were tic tacos. Once she decided to get clean and quit cold turkey. Like in like two day or three while in her car but as a passenger she had a heart attack and died. And the fucker that was driver her car left her in the car parked on the side of the road and took off.

But anyways what I was trying to say opioid withdrawal won’t kill you but it’s so horrible and miserable that all the time you thinking man all I have to do is take one pill and all this goes away. That’s why so many relap and don’t make it through withdrawals

Man I really wish you the best. I know how hard that is to do and how bad you will feel. Just keep thinking to yourself this is only temporary and shall pass. Don’t give in brother you can do this. I’m rooting for you 👍

Also, from what I understand, gabapentin was initially used as an anti seizure drug. And going from a higher dose and stoping cold turkey could cause seizures. Just wanted to toss that out there.

So, if a patient wanted to get off gabapentin they would taper off slowly over the course of several weeks. I never heard of anyone having seizure when discontinuing it but it is still a risk.

Yea it still works for seizures for people that are alcoholics and are getting clean. Since quitting alcohol for alcoholics causes seizures. And yes you need to taper off
