Pet Peeves In The Gym

When i was a teenager my first gym was a Gold's Gym and it was in a small town. People just did not do these kinds of things. I don't know why but you just didn't see this (or people leaving their weights all over the place). No social media or cell phones back then so maybe that had something to do with it too, i really don't know.

After lock down my wife convinced me to go to a gym with her - I am motivation to go since I go so often. My other gyms were always sport specific or just fitness enthusiasts. You used a piece of equipment, cleaned it, and if you needed a break you go to the locker room where all of your stuff is. You needed water and a towel only.

The commercial gyms are the worst.

People spreading on TWO or more machines? Shoot, the gym forces social distancing and has stuff taped off. When people put belongings on a bench and walk 10 feet away to a machine it boggles my mind. Its rude and they have the nerve to get upset when you ask if they are using it.

I taught my wife better than to do that, but her light weight, short sets and machine hopping drives me crazy. But I pick my battles. Instead I get mad about the guy with the back brace on, weight belt, sauna suit, gallon of water unloading his extras on a machine or bench and using the squat rack for 45 minutes using the bar only.

Not a pet peeve but shocked how some people feel it so odd that I workout in boots and jeans. They don't affect arms, delts day etc and not everyone feels like changing their clothes or Toting an outfit around if you train after work. Some gyms it's the norm, some gyms don't allow it. Jeans and boots are more practical for working out than a surgical mask lol

Pet peeve is that there are ZERO and I mean absolutely zero hot girls in any of the gyms i go to. Not that i would talk to them or anything b/c i'm married but still. I'm not there that much but i'm pretty sure none go. There are however, plenty of boobs.

ooo i remembered one.

And this happens a couple times a year and i HATE it. I KNOW this happens to other guys, especially the guys who LOOK like they are BBers or are just big. NOTHING IS WORSE than when a dude sees you at the gym and thinks they can approach you to talk about gear. NOTHING. I hate it. I actually kinda get offended. Whooo the hell do u think u are coming out of nowhere to talk about that with me. We arent friends, this is private shit. And you want to talk about your cycle and where u can find stuff lol Ugh, i hate it.

And 99.9% of these guys don't look like they lift at all but are telling me they are on 400mg of Tren and think its fake lol. Insane. I honestly have only a handful of guys, whom i trust enough to talk gear with. And some stranger at the gym wants to ask me something or wants to sell me GH. haha its crazy.

On the flip side, in sport gyms, I have seen guys pin in the lockerroom. Not at all hiding it. These guys are begging for questions or a cop in the club to do something. This makes anyone remotely involved in this community look bad.

It amazes me that people are oblivious of personal subjects.

Any gear should be treated like we treat asking about money. You don't ask another man about money. You shouldn't ask another man about his salary, gear, viagra, or his mistress in public. Nothing about being illegal, it is more about personal vs private and common decency.

Ive seen guys be obvious about it, but those dudes 99.9% of the time arent BBers. They are gear users. And that's a major difference. I've never seen any legitimate-looking BBer pin in front of people.

Gym rats are TRYING to get attention. BBers are just doing their workout and getting the hell out of there.

Im not a BB by any means but im 195lbs pretty ripped and i constantly get strangers asking me about if i take gear. I just look at them and walk away Fk you. I see plenty of real big dudes who are in great shape, obviuosly they are on gear wtf? you dont ask people their personal business, especially if you dont know them!

You are right, they were gym rats. Guys who just are in the gym even if not lifting. They may be BB'ing but they were just in the gym all the time. Couldnt have jobs. It may have been my area. But they were always extremely secretive.

The times I have seen it is in a private locker room, in small gyms where the whole environment was different. You knew who was using, but no one talked about it. Guys using in the private locker room were often getting help.

In those gyms we always treated it like a dude showering. You just did not look anywhere below the waist. Even in that environment, no one ever talked about it. The main gym in my mind had a heavy bag near the stairs for guys who lost their temper, lol.

Now that I am thinking about the gym, its no wonder they closed.

Imo this might be because some people, i'd guess the generation below mine, lack awareness of boundaries. And then there's possibly the entitlement part. "I'm me/special, so i'm entitled to know or talk about xyz (which happens to be very personal) with you". I've felt similar when some stranger stops me on the street to ask me about religion. Even though it's a different topic and they're trying to "recruit", my thought immediately is, "I don't know you from Adam and i'm going to talk to you about religion? Yeah, ok".
