Any other guys on here have issues with their piriformis muscle? Mine is pretty bad, can rarely sit or drive for any extended amount of time, buttocks and lower back get an intense dull ache after about 45 min.

I suggested this to my orthopaedic but he has for years insisted that it was my L4-5 and S1... Saw a neurologist the other day who has identified the problem is the piriformis... Good job ortho for 4 yrs of not fucking listening on top of countless cortisone shots and rhizotomies...

I know how to remedy this. I limit my advice to only things I am certain about, after 30+ years in the trenches and still at it.
Just go to my thread on foam rolling. I promise you it will solve your problems.

Foam roller, MFR, trigger point therapy, deep tissue massage. these are your best options. Fuck the doctors who know shit about treating pain!

OMG.

I thought I was the only one suffering from this. I am damn near crippled after 30 minutes in the chair. I hit my ass really hard in the upper buttock area and that relives it for a sec. I have this thick "band" of muscle across the top of my glute that doesnt relax. Chiros and shots did nothing for me. I am going to try anything at this point. I usually stand and cross my legs and bend down to stretch it for temporary relief. I will make an appointment for something soon. Thanks for pointing out what has worked bros. My hip is forever grateful.
btw- last night i was reading about foam rollers and was in pain i had my gf roll one of thosetall thick glass vases with a pointy top part on it. its hard and knobby, and after 5 minutes of really hard rolling, i did get some relief so i know if i went to someone i know it would prolly help.
