PITT-FORCE (German rest-pause training program)

came across this training program a while back but have never given it a go to determine how effective it can be. The general gist of it seems to be 1 set with short rests between each rep, as long as needed to get another quality rep, until you hit 20 reps, the short rests allowing you to use a heavier weight while maintaining good form.... similar to the breathing squat method but for every body part... Video below showing it in action..

Makes you wonder which is more effective...continuous reps with X amount of weight or reps with short breaks with a heavier load.... continuous reps will definitely give you a better pump/burn...but which is causing more muscle damage that will result in more growth compensation?

I would say continuous reps with heavy weight. Time under tension. Don't give the muscle even a second to rest. Lift until you can't complete a clean rep.

Very interesting but not something I would use as part of my entire program. It would be good to try it from time to time using select exercises... adding abit of variety into things.

I don't know about the workout but that chain contraption to hold the dumbbells is pretty cool.

The bottom of each rep is taking tension off totally. the chain holds all the weight at the bottom.

The TUT for this kind of work either meets or exceeds the weight that someone else would do for continuous reps, so I'm not too worried about that.

With the 20 rep goal I'd say that someone using continuous reps would fail before maximum muscle damage has occurred.

That being said, it would be hard to get this to work for all lifts. Although I do believe rest-pause is awesome. I'm just referring to the specific way this user is engaging it, ie the chains.
