Anyone else that has met or know of PJ (he's a big name over at RX-muscle/Palumbo's site) know he's a real stand up guy. Hope the very best for him. Looks like no charges for dealing so far - which is great.

Danbury bodybuilder charged in steroid ring - NewsTimes

DANBURY -- Police said a local bodybuilder has been arrested as part of the continuing investigation into a ring that sold illegal steroids in the Danbury area.

Police said Philip "P.J." Braun, 30, who writes on his blog that he is best friends with Bethel's Mark Mansa, who police said is the head of the operation, was taken into custody last week after detectives from the department's Special Investigations Division and a federal drug agent went to his Pembroke Avenue condominium to serve an arrest warrant for conspiracy to possess marijuana.

The charges are part of the joint investigation by local police and the federal Drug Enforcement Agency that began five years ago, police department spokesman Capt. Thomas Wendel said.

When investigators entered Braun's home March 28, they said they saw both narcotics and substances that proved to be steroids in plain sight, according to Wendel.

Police said the narcotic was Percocet, a prescription painkiller. The steroids were testosterone, and brand-name steroids Deca-Durabolin, Halotestin and Proviron.

Braun also was charged with three counts each of possession of a controlled substance and possession of prescription legend drugs, plus possession of narcotics, according to police.

He was released on a promise to appear Wednesday in state Superior Court on White Street.

The arrest warrant affidavit detailing the original marijuana possession charge against Braun has been sealed by the court. The only information available about the case indicated the possession charge stems from a September incident in Danbury.

All the charges indicate Braun was using the drugs, but he was not involved in selling them.

Calls to a phone number for Braun listed in court documents weren't answered Monday, and it wasn't known whether he has retained a lawyer.

Four people -- Mansa, Brookfield businessman Glenn Wagner, convicted drug dealer Kevin Lubic, of Salem, N.Y., and Richard Sciacchetano, a Stuart, Fla., man with reputed ties to the Bonanno crime family -- were indicted by a federal grand jury last month for distributing either marijuana or steroids to customers that authorities said included adults and high school athletes.

Only Mansa, a 46-year-old businessman from Bethel, was accused of participating in both rings.

Wagner, Lubic and Sciacchetano were indicted only on the marijuana-related charges, and both Sciacchetano and Wagner have denied participating in steroid sales.

During Mansa's initial court appearance, Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph Vizcarrondo said that area high school athletes and people in "the muscle industry" were among Mansa's clients who purchased steroids.

Mansa also has boasted that he had been protected by members of several area police departments, including Danbury, New Milford and Wilton, allegations that town officials and police spokesmen in those towns have vehemently denied.

Here's what he had and they are charging him with 3 counts---> where officers and agents saw both narcotics (Percocet x 17 tabs) and anabolic steroids (Deca, Halo, and Proviron x 100 tabs)....brutal justice system!!

What I find unbelievable is they originally went after him for conspirracy to possess marijuana? That's complete and utter bullshit. What PD has time on their hands to go after simple marijuana possession charges and get warrants for that? Granted, he did have a buncha other stuff when they actually went into his house, but their reason for being there was, imo, invalid.

At least he didn't get popped for distribution. My guess is he'll roll over on someone and get probation, worst case.

That started being investigated 5yrs ago. Someone seems to have pissed someone off and they snitched. Fishing maybe for the crime family ties to that one guy maybe shit to much money and time for a little B.S like this. Sucks good luck to him seems like some people involved are more scared of the steroid charges then the drugs also. Ridiculous. MM

Wow this sucks for PJ, hopefully he just gets a slap on the wrist with probation and no actual time

Our goverment needs to start getting the real crooks and killers instead of all of this stupid shit!

What a waste of tax money. Now it has gone from "Bodybuilding drugs" to a exclusive 'industry" - "the muscle industry". I wonder how much money was spent on this crap waste of an investigation in the "muscle industry".
He probably had a script for the pain meds and they just didnt print that fact.

Thought the highlighted part about him teaching the instructor was kinda of funny and most likely true.

National Level NPC Bodybuilder to Attend Steroid Education
Classes

The Dansbury Superior Court has accepted NPC bodybuilder “PJ” Braun into a drug education program where he will apparently learn about the evils of anabolic steroids. Braun faced three counts of possession of a controlled substance, three counts of possession of prescription legend drugs and one count of possession of narcotics. All charges will be dropped upon the successful completion of the drug education program. While it is unlikely that Braun will learn anything new about steroids, there is a good chance the he will be able to teach the instructor a thing or two about the drugs. The national level competitive bodybuilder was arrested on March 2011 after police claim to have observed a variety of steroid drugs in plain sight at his apartment including testosterone, Deca-Durabolin, Halotestin and Proviron. The use of steroids is generally considered a prerequisite for bodybuilders seeking to compete at the national and/or professional level. The steroids seized by police were consistent with personal use. Police have acknowledged Braun was not involved in selling or distributing steroids. Braun may have had prescriptions for all of the steroids seized yet this was not mentioned in the media reports.

Braun had the misfortune of buying steroids from a local source who had been a cooperating witness for federal investigators since 2009. Braun purchased steroids from “Weirdo Steve” beginning in September 2010 upon the recommendation of a friend. The friend, Mark Mansa, also happened to be the primary target of a 5-year, joint investigation by the Danbury Police Special Investigations Division and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

“Weirdo Steve” not only provided steroids to Braun with personal use quantities of steroids but also had been selling 70 steroid vials per month to Mansa since 2004 according to authorities. Mansa has also been accused of heading a drug ring responsible for the sale of 220 pounds of marijuana over a four-year peri

I LOL'd at the highlighter parts hahahaha that is sooo funny.

I'm thinking, "reputed ties to the Bonanno crime family" might've played a part in the bust.

i see our taxdollars being used in maximum efficency. this just eats at me..

If BJ Braun is teaching a class about steroids then that's a class I want to take! :p

oh well "Weirdo Steve" why didn't you say so in the first place...

the general public will automatically know to take sides when "Weirdo Steve" is in the mix

And today's lessons for the class:D

If friends you've bought from or for are being investigated, it's time to hide or move your shit, eh?
If the Boys in Blue come to get ya...just drop what you're doing and meet them outside ;)
And...dont deal with people with names like, "Weirdo Steve", "Tweeker Dave" or "Psycho Andy". Can't be good...People with aliases attract attention, it's their nature...that's how they got the alias in the first place.

The warrant was for an arrest, not a search. They were just there to arrest him, but the gear and Percs sitting out got him.

He was being arrested for "Conspiracy to possess, Marijuana", not possession and not gear. Which means they didn't expect to find any weed there, just that he'd tried to buy some...any amount, sometime before. Funny thing is, conspiracy to commit many crimes is a felony, whereas actual possession with no intent to sell is a misdemeanor:banghead:. The weed case is sealed, because the info on his "conspiracy" to possess came from an informant and likely involved other people in the investigation.

He had gear in "plain view"...which means sitting out and not the result of a search. That's how he got hooked on the extra charges. They had no warrant to search, so if he'd hidden the AAS, he'd have spared himself some trouble....NOW, they could go back with a warrant based on what they've found or as part of his probation agreement, whenever they want.

Bummer, but drug education is a decent outcome for him.

They are gonna pound him till he gives them the names of the bigger fish. It makes sense to me why they chose to arrest him. He is a soft target.
