Pointless getting a coach if I don’t want to compete?

Do you guys think it is pointless & waste of money to hire a coach to just look bigger & better without ambition to step on stage?
I have a decent expirience and a knowledge about bodybuilding and managed to build a decent amount of muscle for me, mostly figured out what works best for me, but part of me just want to follow a plan and get even better without thinking everything like macros, training, gear, should i or shouldn't do that etc... just to have a clear head and follow the plan.
Do any of you expierience guys have a coach and no desire to compete?

Not at all. Most coaches have TONS of what they call "lifestyle" clients who just want to get in great shape in general. Maybe for like, for a wedding, just to learn and understand the science. Not pointless one bit.

A coach is there to make you better, smarter and sharper. There to help you focus on being the best athlete possible. That applies whether you’re getting on stage or not. It’s absolutely worth it IMO if you dislike doing the things you listed. Is it “neccesary”, no. Will it make you better if you can afford it and stick with the plan? Yes.

I got bigger, better and stepped on stages and was happy with my results without a coach. Just depends on how much knowledge you have nad how much time you are willing to spend learning. There are a few pro BBers; that don't use a coach. It doesn't take exoctic trainig, diets or drug protocols for most people to build a very good physque.

I hired a coach this past summer, and I have no present intention of competing. I guess I'm a "lifestyle" client. I've trained for over 40 years, and feel I'm reasonably knowledgeable about diet, training and PEDs. Nevertheless, the coach has been invaluable for me. I've learned a lot, it's been good to get an objective person to give me their two cents, and the weekly check-ins have provided me the accountability that's helped me stick to my plan.

I know that I shouldn't need that accountability, but it has worked for me! So in my view it's been worth it.

it depends, what are your goals, are we talkin get in shape have some fun or are we more in the category of building some serious mass and push boundaries. I always knew i wanted to push beyond just having some fun and getting in shape, so for me it was a natural step to hire someone guide me towards what it really took to get there, alot of people are very naive of what it takes both training, food, drugs and time wise...

I think it’s a personal choice with no correct answer. Regardless of competing or not, do you want to see just how good you can possibly look or are you generally pretty happy with the path you’re on?

So much information posted here by IFBB Pros, NPC Competitors and top tier coaches over the past two decades...Different diets, trainings, drug protocols.

Read, read, read and find what works best for your needs/goals.

It's your money. I had a coach as a "lifestyle" client, but only because I needed it. Completely changed my outlook on fitness and even life. I've learned a lot from my coach and immersified myself in consuming more bodybuilding/fitness related content to the point where I no longer need a coach, unless I'm competing.

Honestly, podcasts, forums and ChatGBT are enough to get you where you need to be. Start a journal somewhere too if you need accountability

I think it would be largely beneficial to you, based on what you’ve suggested.

Could eliminate a lot of time spinning your wheels on training/diet/gear by jumping right into an approach that works

Plus it sounds like you’d prefer the kind of structure a plan would provide, if you don’t find the research part enjoyable

There’s a lot of great coaches on here that could definitely put you on the right path

Could go middle road and use Justin Harris’s troponin IQ app I think it would shine in a situation like this
Would work "perfectly" for someone like this 👍🏿

I'm just an older athlete who got interested in the various ways of getting more muscular and more shredded, so I hired a coach for ~4 months, learned what I needed to learn, and it really paid dividends. Invested maybe a grand in the entire relationship. Worth every penny!

Nothing I could not have learned on my own, but there's something about paying for a service that makes you learn extra effectively :)

I worked with Alex Azarian before he passed, he helped me get in the best shape of my life and i never would enter a bodybuilding show.. go for it

If you're not competing and don't make bookoo money - this is for comedic effect, you're a cuck. Granted there are things that you CAN learn from them outside of fitness like a mentorship type of deal.

Theres too much free information on forums, youtube, and using chatgpt as an advanced google search to be paying someone $300+/m to give you macros and an ego stroke in your weekly check-ins. At that price point you could literally pay for a meal prep service and have a big part of your meal plan figured out and convenient.

Most of the coaches out there got most of their info from this board

Based on what you have provided as backjground

Unless you need the accouintability, or get overley stressed / anxious when trying to make changes to diet, or training, I would skip a full on hire, especially what the market is these days for coach's fees.

There is so much information available between forums like this, youtube, apps, and guys that have subscription plans.

The Raw Intensity App from Cliff Wilson is a really good one.

lol, I know a guy who hired a coach for like a year, then went out on his own and "became a coach" and literally just plagiarised every training and diet variable. It was not a mentorship type of thing, he just carbon copied everything this guy did. He did even try to learn the reason why behind the things, he would just do what the other guy did.
