Post workout Carbs

I was curious on what u guys feel are the best foods/supplements to eat for post workout. I don't mean in your post workout meal but immediately after training. I drink a shake (50 grams protein/dextrose/creatine/glutamine) and usually eat 2 pieces of wheat bread.

Is this good? or is there a better carb source i should be using
 
I had a friend tell me once that sweet potatoes were a good post-workout carb because of its high glycemic index. I, unfortunately can't afford to eat such cuisine after every workout so I stick to a carb supplement. I would also like to know what would be the best immediate carb to consume post-workout.
 
I use what you described but without the creatine.

For optimal recovery i would use 50%/50% dextrose/maltodextrin mixture. Personally in my shake i use 40 g Dextrose/40 g of Maltodextrine with 48 grams of whey( on a bulk).
 
Is glutamine really useful? I thought I read somewhere that it isn't that significant.
 
125 grams Whey protein, 100 grams Dextrose, 15 grams Creatine, 20 oz Grape Juice shake, I also eat 2 bananas and 2 baked potatoes.

Then 1 hour later 80 grams protein, 100 grams Dextrose...

more and more studies are showing that l - glutamine is over rated.. now, glutamine peptides are a different story and much more usable to the body.. it tastes like ass.. very repugnant.. but,i use it after each workout..so if ya kind find a good brand of peptides i would buy it.. little more expensive but,...
 
Glutamine peptides

Yes the glutamine peptides have quite a bland taste to say the least, I got some, some time ago from PF and rarely use it anymore cause the taste is so damn blaaahhh only way I currently use is by adding it into my pro shakes when I have it. I to have read numerous info stating L-glutamine is overated and some even say more or less worthless, as the gut destroys most ah it who really knows though for sure.....though I still use the L post workout with my crea and dext.
 
Take Glycoload after train this is a mix of maltodextrin, fructose and dextrose from Optimun Nutrition, with 60 gr of whey prot, then eat 40 minutes after, 300 gr red meat and 400 gr of plantain or sweet potatoes, then a lot of rice all the rest of the day and you will be recovered
