Hey guys. Just wondering if y’all think adding a post WO shake would be beneficial in my scenario.

I have the opportunity to train with a pro as a partner, which is very valuable to me. I commute to a high quality gym after work to train with him and it’s about an hour drive (I live in bumfuck nowhere, mostly farmland with a planet fitness… Central America type stuff lol).

Anyways, I consume 50g of carbs and 25g eaas intra, but do not get to get a meal in till maybe 1:30-2 hours post lift sometimes due to the drive, showering, heating up my meal etc.

Do you think it would be beneficial to add a post workout shake? Or am I overthinking this.

What/when is the last meal before your workout?

I pretty much always ate a meal a couple hours before i train. Then a protein shake after. Followed by a meal a couple hours later. In general what and how much is eaten consistently throughout the day seems to matter far more then the exact hour that the food is eaten from my reading.

I eat 50g protein from whey iso and 50g carbs from rice cereal pre workout, sip on eaas intra (no carbs unless I’m using insulin) and then post workout in my commute to work I take in another 50g protein from whey iso and another 70g carbs from Karbolyn. I eat my first whole food meal about 2-3 hours later.

You’re probably okay being that you’re taking in eaas and carbs intra, however I’ll reiterate the question @hevi-head asked, what’s your pre workout meal like and how soon before your workout is it consumed?

Thanks for the response brother.

I already posted my pre workout meal.

Oh I missed that. Do you know what your macros are for that meal? It sounds like you’re doing things on the run like me. I’m sure you’re well fed since you’re training on the way home from work. Personally, I’d just add the shake and additional carbs in post workout and then do a whole food meal once you get home.

All good!

It’s about 100g carbs and 50g protein. And yeah… schedule is crazy. You think I should remove the intra and do a post shake then?

Yeah I mean as long as you’re not using insulin I’d probably go 75 pre and 75 post. Or if you want the intra you can go 50 pre, 50 intra and then another 50 post on your commute home.

Thanks, I’ll do option 2 bro. Especially since I’m doing cardio post workout.
