Power lift style vs bb style on compound movements

Do you guys do powerlifting style compound movements (ie clean and jerk with a jump etc) or bb style (slow feel the pain). Seems to me like bb style is wrong because certain parts of a movement are so hard to do slowly. But then, powerlifting style looks a lot like cheating.

In case you can't tell, typical bb style isolation movements are leaving me uninspired (skinny with painful joints!) - so any additional pointers would be great - CH

I think you mean olympic-style weightlifting by your description. If so, it's really mastering technique. Lots of good olympic lifters are small but VERY strong. Then there's the REALLY fat ones that are strong. Again - it all boils down to technique.

For years I struggled with gaining mass until I increased the intensity (lots of good posts floating around this board on this) and increased rest periods (lift weights fewer days a week).

u really cant do any olympic lifts slowly, there not cheating at all, its all technique.

When I do upright rows, I take a wider grip than I see many people do....I call them high pulls and I pretty much heave them up there. hahaha....not real pretty to watch but I sure as heck get sore traps and delts. Your joints bugging you too?? My left elbow has been nagging away at me for awhile now as well.:)
 
I do cleans once a month and when I do its fast and jerky, hehe. I am sore for days afterward.

Time to go hard with the compound movements.

But.....you were probably working. I should try it sometime!

Hiking/ Hunting with weights: I am a retard. That's the deal with that. Also, I am a constant embarrassment to my Dad who has to explain to all the guys in camp why his retarded son it standing out in the snow behind his truck doing shrugs with the 100lb dumbells that just 'happened' to be in there! I am a loser.:(
 
Cheating is good some times if you dont compromise the exercise, it helps you to get strongest, ask Dorian Yates.
