I usually eat a 1/2 hour to an hour before my workout and drink a shot of espresso right before I get in the gym! It usually does the trick!
I'd recommend against them, they cost plenty more than they're worth and your body will adapt to any stimulants eventually over time. If you have to do something just do ECA, it's pretty cheap for two weeks at a time usage and it's excellent for fat loss! I think it's 15$ for the two weeks worth (~10 for two boxes ephedrine) and 25ish for four weeks as the asprin and caffeine cost nothing.
Do you realize that ephedrine is hard on your heart? You don't see sane bbers using the ECA stack year round because the ephedrine causes a rise in bp and heart rate, both which can cause serious damage over time. This is one of the reasons why ECA stack is used only during cutting and not during bulking phases.
I didn't intend to mean to use it year round. I'd only use it two weeks at a time, and I take long break between usage. The main point of my message was supposed to be to just not use any pre-workouts. Kinda did that poorly, sorry for the misunderstanding ^^
