This is excellent. Being able to release all of the aggression and despair from being locked up like an animal is a positive thing. More prisons should have this.

The problem is when you are giving dangerous inmates the ability to become that strong it poses a threat to the guards. Don't get me wrong man, I have been there and done that and would of loved to have had weights, but I can see the other perspective.

You can still do a lot of shit while locked up. Fuck sounds retarded but if you curl something that even weighs ten pounds and you do that for about twenty minutes lol your arm will get tired.

In so cal if you are of mexican heritage mandatory workouts every morning. I am not but I thought it was a trip. The reason being is they want people to be prepared to battle it up if need be. So with that being common knowledge why would the prison system want to give them actual weights?

It is very therapeutic...without the ability to lift I would of never been able to get off the dope and get sober. It became my new addiction.

Its true, I mean when I was younger I got sentenced to a juvenile detention center that they called a school, its over in Philly and we had national powerlifting champions there. The dudes were just freaky strong it was insane. They lifted 2x a day and I believe that they did get some "vitamins" to help them in their performance. I think we won national high school powerlifting about 10x maybe more.

I would think because they enjoy it so much it would be great leverage to keep them in line. It gives them something to lose which would make them less dangerous than someone who had nothing to lose.

I always thought that was kind of funny.

Saw this some time ago-some mean looking dudes in there. Love the way they just get under the bar dont give a fuck and do it-no hesitation

Its a great program. Gets stress alleviate and well as alot of violent tendencies. Allowing them to channel those emotions into something positive is a huge step in the right direction.

That and having the little sub sect of the prison population taking this stuff seriously, all encouraging and pushing eachother does alot for ones self esteem and self worth .

Here in cali they removed all weights from the yard, but thats why latinos up here in northern cali got creative with their exercises. And its not just the southern latinos that have mandatory sessions northern latins do as well.

Made me think of Don Blue rip. He was a smaller lighter guy some years back that was just a freak strength wise. I believe he won worlds and nationals.

Thanks for the link/article. That guy was something else.His lifts were way before the equipped lifts age. I saw in a pl usa he had passed away living on the streets addicted. Froze to death. Some guys never figure out how to live on the outside. Great lifter .

Prison should be a scary place, I'm not talking about getting raped and shit like that ! I'm talking about being so lonely and getting so bored so if you come out, you won't think about redoing the bad things you did only because they took care of you in prison with people tax money

I know prisoners who got out and did some shit to go back in

also what one of them breaks into your house ? and you are 2 weeks into your PCT with low test levels lol.... that's just my opinion
