Problem installing adobe flash player

I'm trying to install adobe so I can watch videos on youtube and for some reason will not open even after installing active x control , so I tried adobe pro and after 99% finished I'm told to close all tabs on internet exporer only the web page isn't opened . I think I have to completely close it out and anyone know how to do this without uninstalling it and re- installing ?

I was able to install the flash player and videos play on youtube , only they seem to freeze up when watching. I may need to update video drivers . The past week has been hell regarding viruses , ive had 17 trojans and 2 adware viruses deleted and cleaned yerterday from using the trial version of kaspersky 2010 , and malware bytes found a bunch of adware viruses to and removed them .

Yes, I had a co- worker whose a computer tech tell me I need to tweak and peak my modem because the speed is not quite up to par .
