Recently I came across a discussion that PM is just so different that they no longer even come here (not even "lurking"). There has also been the fair share of a few complaints on threads here as well.

There is always the "honeymoon" period when things are new and exciting, etc. and then the real work comes and some of the "excitement" might wane... but that is when the true test of character comes out.

Also, it's typical to just deal with situations as they come but never really try to have any for-sight as to the trajectory of how the "relationship" will end up based on it's current path. This can be very dangerous.

So I ask-
1) Where was PM before?
2) Where is it now?
3) Where do you think it is heading?

1) What made it that way before?
2) What do you think makes it the way it is now?
3) What can be done to achieve a favorable future?

I know I have an average amount of post's, but this is the first board I joined and pretty much the only one I post on. It is my first home. I appreciate all that I have learned and feel guilty sometimes for not making more time to share what little insight/experience/knowledge I have.

So, with MUCH respect, I would love to hear from some of the vets, mods, etc. Those who have been here for awhile who may be able to offer a better "big picture" of things.

I know im not a vet or a mod but i have been here for a few years and this is what i see.

This is one of only 2 boards i post on (Intense muscle being the other). PM has more info on it than most others combined. So many of todays sites are full of BS info that is posted by some overweight non trainer that has created a fake persona inorder to look like he is valuable. When those posers come on here they are questioned and evaluated by the mods. It seems like they sniff out the fakes pretty fast and they are banned. This site does have it share of AAS questions but most of them are addressed properly and its not too excessive like other sites. On here you can find any info you want from gear to training to nutrition to pets to movies. Its not just a site that is focused on 100%gear talk. Thanks to Big A and all the mods for keeping this site one of, if not the best, on the net.

PM HAS THE OFFICIAL ASS THREAD TO. :D

really its just alot of new peeps that brings change but it also brings $$$$
the old vets dont post much. only in the solid threads with solid info.

One of the issues I see here is the self righteous meatheads who climb on their soapbox with every other question asked. If someone asks a question about fat burners or certain types of gear, some jackoff always has to chime in stating how people are always looking for the easy way out instead of the infamous "cardio and diet" they preach about. Too bad the rest of the world isn't as wonderful as they are. Maybe that person is just asking a question! I asked a question one time about mega dosing T3 just to get some feedback and sure enough, a jackoff starts crying about he is so tired of people looking for an easy fix. It was just an F'ing question! Get over yourself already! People need to be able to ask questions on here without being preached at. JMHO.

The members make the board. It will continue to grow and change in the direction of the people posting, good or bad.

jello said.. it is the members who make the board.. all we want is a mature debate and discussion of ideas... and our members are the vast majority of the time always willing to to do this...
as for the mods, i am a bit bias..;) i feel we have the best around.. and sometimes we get our share of flak for some decisions.. but, there is much behind the scenes that many dont know about that influence our decisions.. raj and some others do their best to weed out bad behavior.. they have to be stern to keep the board running in a positive manner.. and thank god they do as i am a bit of a push over..::eek:

but as for the future? we will get new , positive members.. we will deal strictly with open discussion and not hide anything in regards to topics we all care about.. we will weed out the bad.. and ask old time members to be patient with new members and take them under their wings and guide them.. we were all there once.. and remeber we need new blood to add to the old guard so that more ideas and discussion is brought forward.. so it is up to all of us to bring more members to this board and we have to do this by being the board with the most information and the best members to add to the discussion.. pretty easy when ya think about it...

Ive been here since 2003 and I like it here because its a really really hardcore board...alot of longtime lifters, alot of elite guys, top ams, pro's etc (alot who dont post but read-you would be surprised). Alot of cutting edge info on this board.

I have never figured out why a large portion of this sport lives and dies by the gossip in this endeavor. In all honesty its kind of embarrasing on other bodybuilding forums how much 20-35 year old members care about "do you know who so and so is putting down?" "Did so and so pro say this?" "Oh my god Joey, that pro is dating that fitness girl"....to me anyway its kind of creepy to care so darn much about the personal lives of other men who are about your very age....I dont get it but thats how alot of other forums function......20-35 year olds living vicariously thru the gossip concerning 20-40 year old genetically elite bodybuilders...........this one doesnt. (Think about that for a second how we kind of scoff at 40 year old women gossiping a mile a minute around the magazine rack about who a 20 something Britney Spears might be dating, or how Jessica Simpson got dumped by her bf.....and yet you go on these other sites and 37 year old men care so deeply about the personal life of a 33 year old male bodybuilder)

The only thing that personally bothers me on this board is that a large number of members truly believe you cannot accomplish anything without taking gigantic amounts of drugs. It boggles my mind some of the stacks I see on this board. Someone comes in like BBoy, Dusty, Nate, etc etc and says "hey this is all thats going on over here" and noone believes them. It is what it is I guess.

But in my opinion, I like this board because there really is a slew of hardcore guys here that are pretty damn dedicated who have been around the block....alot of 30-55 year old bbers on this board...that kind of tells you something as to where they have landed to give and share info.

Yeah I think it gets pretty crass with young guys but its because (IMO only) this really isnt a board for newbies to post but to read and take it all in and get a jist of everything. I think the "you come in brash and blaring, you'll get humbled and taken down a peg quickly" approach works on this site.

Im all about the bottom line and not wasting time with bullshit.....as it pertains to the bodybuilding arena....I dont think you can find a better forum than this one with those principles

Yes, I agree with LATS and DC...The best board around. To be honest, I never posted much in the beginning, lurk, lurked some more, read, absorb the information that I thought was valuable and had vet insight, and finally posted. Everyone makes stupid posts, but it is how you learn and grow from that point that will show how much you actually really understood from the valuable posts about bodybuilding, well not only bodybuilding, but life situations outside of bodybuilding. Like LATS said, we all were newbies at one point, so do not hesitate to ask questions, but understand that vets/mods will bring a sense of reality to it if it seems to good to be true!

There are a ton of great people on this board, several that have helped me and I consider people I would like to meet and chill with!

So, there were always be the bad with the good posts, just choose to read them or not is your choice. Again, the best board around!

This is a good discussion and something Ive been thinking about as a few of my friends have stated this a few times in the past few years. I think a few things influence our/vets decisions.

We've been here for years when we were really learning and discussing.....we've tried several things on our own and learned what and what didn't work. We actually put the leg work in.....discussed, thoerized, scrutinized, changed and evalutated. I personally think the main thing is after a while we mature, our views change and it just doesn't feel the same. I personally think i had maybe 50 posts the first 4 years I was on this site.....all i did was search and read.

The other factor is the legalities that have caused us to be more strict with rules and threads/posts than we use to. Unfortunately most vets do not want to discuss this....maybe personal reasons, maybe because we're affraid LE is watching, maybe because we're getting older and moving onto other things. Just a couple ideas i had.

However I still believe this is the best overall hardcore site with great information, great members and great mods.;):D

I AGREE 100%!!!

Alot of you guys on here don't know me but some do. i do alot of lurking around on this site, taking in like a sponge, what alot of other members have to say like DOGGCRAP, BBoy, PHIL, OLDFELLA, BIG A etc. i'm no pro...hell i haven't even stepped on stage yet for my first show. but i come to this site almost everyday and learn something new whether it be gear, diet, training, and esp how to heal and recover from minor injuries here and there!

Its been a couple of years since ive been a member and i see nothing but a great hardcore bodybuilding site truely the best on the net for EVERYTHING about bodybuilding (trust me there is NO better) where people like me can come and learn and research about the sport and lifestyle we all love!

the future is bright for this site!!! always has been and always will be! ALL the MODS do a FANSTATIC job making sure we have, as members, what we need to enjoy this site. so to them i cant thank you enough. and BIG A....thanks for bringing this site to life!

NOW GO EAT!!!!! :)

I used to have about three or four boards I'd visit. Now, PM is the only one. It gets a little annoying to always see people pimping Henron and Big A's stuff for sale, but it's a small price to pay for the wealth of experience that many PM members bring.

Well

I joined looking for genuine comradere in what is more a cult than a social circle. A place to be able to get real info about some of the not so nice aspects of our sport. What I found was a real eye opener. A bunch of no nonsense mature people that have a genuine love for our sport and a passion of sharing knowledge.

The wealth of info spilled out in this threads is staggering. You could not find all of this in a book because it is a conglomerate of real world experience. A wealth of hundreds of combined years of trial and error and then put here for all to use.

Sure there will always be detractors and idiots here. But it still makes this the best forum on the planet. I will not go to any other board because I have been made to feel welcome in this community. The noobs need to sit back and read. Learn to think before they post and try not to get foot caught in mouth.

Thank you Professional Muscle

I still class myself as a new member here compared to some of the vets :) but Ive learned so much from this board and have met some good people and think BigA and the mods do a spot on job.

Theres good and bad everywhere and this place is no different, one thing Ive learned is that humility and a willingness to listen are things that cannot be taught. If someones a dick, they can be a dick with 3000 posts or a dick with 30 posts and the internet makes it easier for people like this to say things they wouldnt dream of face to face.

maybe because we're getting older and moving onto other things.

That's definitely the main reason.

After dozens of thousand chicken breasts and tb spoons of EVOO eaten over the years, God knows how many leg workouts performed trying about every routine conceivable, and - let's not deny it - countless tabs swallowed and syringes filled with whatever exotic compound we could get our hands on... well, after all these years spent trying to figure that magic formula to eventually realize there is NONE, the excitement is clearly not the same.

The board is not the one to be blamed, nor are newbies (what we all were at first), AGE AND OTHER PRIORITIES IN LIFE ARE.

:)

Nice post D...

Big A and the mods have been key

While it is true, the sum is made up of its parts, its the team that Big A has put together in the mods that have kept this "ship" on course.

The board has certainly grown over the years. There will always be people coming and going. All types of people. The newbies that want to learn, the foolish newbies that think the only thing keeping them from the Olympia is a secret drug stack, the "already been there and lived through that" people, the "up and coming with real promise", and unfortunately the small percentage of arrogant dicks that float in and get their low self-esteem fix by insulting and bringing nothing of value to the table.

The mods have done a fantastic job of the daunting task of keeping everything on track with the original ProMuscle vision.

On a completely side note, since I work in publishing and I am keenly aware of this stuff, I want to say I am glad that Big A had the web designers use a white background with black copy for all the posts. While some of the other sites with good content look real snappy with the dark background and white type, it is well documented that white type on a dark background "tires" the eye much more quickly than the web design ProMuscle uses. As a result, I can do much more reseach here without taking a break :D

That being said, I gotta get to work.

yeah

I remember leaving the gotfina board, and coming here. I was part of Triedia, RM, and a few others, but it was this one, PM, that really was a cut above IMO. You will not find a board that can rival this one in regards to the number of elite athletes it has for members. It truly is what it says it is: professional.

Yes, this is what I was told when referred here!
