so i went to the Doc's and got a perscription, works out to about 65$ a month to be on the stuff, i notice there are generic versions of propecia on the internet. does any1 have any experience with it and can vouch for the quality of generic products? or have a reliable source?

In this type of situtation and product, go witht the real thing, I would not even think twice about a a generic brand on-line.

I assume you take gear and spend alot more on that, 65 bucks, well worth it for what your going to get out of it.

You should have had him prescribe a generic script for 5mg Finasteride(Proscar), instead of 1mg Finasteride(Propecia) broken them into quarters and insurance would have picked up the cost. I pay $5 month for mine. Nobody is going to give a source read rules. You still be paying at least $40 month with one anways.

I don't think there is a generic for Proscar yet! I know they are BOTH finasteride but Propecia has been out much longer than Proscar! They are prescribed for different reasons!

Anyhow, I pay a little under 40 bucks a month for my generic Propecia (1mg)

There is. Its generic 5mg Finasteride. They are white instead of blue. I get mine at CVS. Anyways I pay the same for generic or name brand for this medication. I use to get the blue name brand Proscar and they recently switched to these generics. Unless the changed the color and markings? Finasteride is suppose to be prescibed for prosate for insurance to pick up, but the docs usually will prescribe you the proscar instaed of propecia so the insurance will pick it up if its for hairloss. I have had mine covered under insurance for about 8 years now.

Yeah, if you're paying the same for your script, they must have changed the pill color! The whole point behind Generics is so they can sell them for a fraction of the brand!

Yeah, some Doc's WILL prescribe the 5mg (Proscar) for Male Pattern Baldness BUT you really don't need more than 1mg for hair-loss. 5mgs is used for BPH in men and sometimes IF you may be prone to Prostate cancer (due to genetics or family history) taking 5mg of finasteride can "mask" that malignant growth! That's why most Doc's won't prescribe the 5's for hair-loss!

They prescribe it for insurance to cover it. Your suppose to break them up into quarter pieces which is time consuming. I only use 1/4 tab EOD.

I pay the same if generic or not in stock for the name brand. I just went and looked and they white 5mg tabs and came in CVS generic amber color bottle. I have a few from awhile ago in the white and blue finasteride bottle those are blue. The cost me the same. Don't know what the deal is, but I would get a script for 5mg proscar and see if insurance should pick it up. Mine even say right on the bottle 1/4 ED and it was prescribed by a doctor who is a cosmetic surgeon/dermatologist. I would give it try. Like I said been paying $3-5 for the last 8 years this way and many others I know.
